Went on a holiday and they were the only place that was open at the beach. One waitress who did everything she could to make sure we were happy. Service was great food was good.

Fantastic New Year’s Day Experience! We kicked off Jan 1, 2026, with a walk at Virginia Beach and stopped into Jumpin' Shrimp. The food was incredible—the she-crab soup and bacon-wrapped scallops are must-haves! A huge shoutout to our bartender, Josh, who made a phenomenal mojito. Both Josh and the young lady working with him provided excellent service and made our visit special. We’ll definitely be back!

This was our second Sunday stopping in at Jumping Shrimp, and honestly, we just can’t say enough about this place. Rhonda makes some truly amazing cocktails—last weekend’s Hot Butter Rum was incredible, and today’s cranberry seasonal drink was just as good. She really can’t be beat as a bartender.

Today we had the biscuits and gravy, plus the corned beef hash with toast, and everything was delicious and full of flavor. Special thanks to our server—sorry we didn’t catch your name—but she was wonderful and took great care of us.

If you’re in Virginia Beach, you have to try this place!

As local residents of Virginia Beach, we decided to take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk on a brisk fall Sunday morning. After a bit of walking, we chose to stop for a bite to eat and wandered into the Jumping Shrimp Restaurant.

Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the hostess. We mentioned we’d like to sit at the bar for a quick meal, and she kindly led us over—turns out, she was also the bartender! She handed us menus and gave us a moment to decide while letting us know about their $5 Bloody Mary special. We decided to give it a try, and to our pleasant surprise, the drinks were excellent—perfectly balanced and just spicy enough.

Our food arrived promptly, and we were both impressed by the generous portions and quality. The grits were the highlight for me—rich, flavorful, and creamy with just the right texture. The sausage links were also outstanding—clearly made in a butcher’s style, not your typical store-bought kind.

Given the cool weather, I couldn’t resist ordering an Irish coffee. When it arrived, I was surprised by how large it was—hot, smooth, and absolutely delicious.

Overall, we were very pleased with our visit to Jumping Shrimp. The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the oceanfront.

Popped in here for a late night cocktail and bite after a walk on the oceanfront. Their shrimp jammer is a must try. I had their Mermaid water and it was amazing - I have a weakness for blue curaçao drinks 🍹

Just had an awesome time at Jumpin’ Shrimp! The tall bartender is a total pro at making fire drinks. Seriously, you have to try them! Also, the red-haired host was amazing, she was super welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. They both explained to me the menu in a professional way. Shoutout to Dan and Madelina!
And the food? Absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed my holiday here. Definitely check it out!

I arrived here around 9:25pm on a Saturday evening with my son. It wasn’t busy at all. It was the off season (late October), so I’m sure that’s normal. It took a few minutes to be seated, however.

Maddie was the waitress and she was friendly and attentive the whole time. I got boardwalk lemonade with strawberry (contains alcohol). It came in a souvenir cup and was tasty.

I ordered entrees at 9:36pm. I got the Fried shrimp dinner with fried and veggies (zucchini / squash mix). My son got the kids cheeseburger and fries. We received our food at 9:53pm. My shrimp was sooooo delicious. I had been craving shrimp and it hit the spot!

The only downside, which is not necessarily any fault of the establishment, was that there was only one other table present but they were being vulgar and saying/discussing inappropriate things that my son didn’t need to hear. I wish staff had asked them to be respectful of the other guests. I think they were intoxicated to a point.

Attractive place with excellent ocean views and the staff are pleasant and efficient. The food, however, is essentially tasteless. Which would maybe be acceptable if it were also inexpensive but it is not. Prices are in the same range as far better seafood restaurants on the Boardwalk so you may as well go to them. I think this restaurant is primarily meant for convenience of its hotel guests.

Incredible service, great atmosphere, delicious drinks, and overall chill vibes. This is a must-stop on the oceanfront to visit Holly and her crew. I can’t wait to come back!

After receiving no service at Hemingways we came here, received prompt service and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The waitress was very nice and ensured that we were satisfied with our food and service. Excellent establishment!
