Mei Zhen Chinese Restaurant

Our order was delivered so no atmosphere to rate. I asked for the delivery person to knock on the door. They just leave food in paper bag on grown and do not knock. The wontons for my soup were hard as rocks, dark brown in color and stale. This used to be our favorite delivery dinner. Ever since they changed to a delivery service the prices have gone up and food is not as hot when it arrives at home. Probably our last time ordering.

First , I would give zero stars if I have that option. The lady who took my order acted like it was an inconvenience to her and that it was a bother to take my order. She made me feel as if I didn’t wanna be there or maybe she didn’t want me there. I Order three meals, chicken lo mein very little chicken zero Flavor, garlic shrimp, very little flavor and four little pieces of shrimp. Mostly the food was rice and or noodle depending on which one you ordered and a ton of broccoli. Ordered the beef Lo mein, very little beef and I mean very little beef if I didn’t ask for spicy, it would’ve had zero flavor. The chicken wings were chicken, crisp overdone, and the sweet-and-sour soup was so thick it had to be diluted. I will not be going back. I drove from downtown Norfolk all the way to Virginia Beach. I am disappointed extremely disappointed. I will not be going back. Zero stars from me and I doubt very much. This is authentic Chinese food.

Incredibly good food for the price. Ordered takeout and it was ready sooner than expected - everything was fantastic!

Been looking for an “old standby” of a Chinese spot and this place is it! Not since Jade Garden was here have we enjoyed Chinese food more!

I have read some of the reviews here and for the life of me I cannot understand anyone making a negative comment about this restaurant or it's food. I am a true foodie, I have even been a food critic once, I have traveled to over 30 countries, always seeking out the finest restaurants, and I tell you the food here was at least a 9.9 tonight, absent amazing. The food has always been very good, but tonight was outstanding, really amazing, I am not sure if they have a new chef but tonight was one of the best meals.

The best part of my takeout experience was the little boy in the front helping his mama take orders. On the flip side, the worst part was the chicken wings. The chicken wings looked like some month old chicken that was sitting under a heat lamp for a week, then OVER fried to the point of it being inedible. It was fried in black over used oil (not fresh) with the bottom burnt drippings stuck on it. HORRIBLE! The barbecue spare ribs were burnt and OVER cooked, and inedible as well. I'm not sure if it was chicken! It may have been and looked like N.Y. style pigeon! I took pics but there's not an option to upload them. Long story short, go to Publix and get your wings. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside delicious. I can't believe I left a tip for such a disgusting meal ??. I will not be going back.
