First encounter was at their opening week, pretty good. Fresh store, fresh atmosphere and fresh employees.
Jump to 2025, mediocre at best. Food is not palatable, it was flavorless and gritty. The hummus was uber chalky. The employees were not at their prime, they seemed angry. Could there be a root cause for foul employee demeanor and sub par fare. Is this the sister restaurant to the one in Norfolk?? Probably different owners…the one in Norfolk is on point. We were excited when the construction started here at hilltop, right at our doorstep. Nope.
I gave it 2 stars vice one, because there is still a glimmer hope, but unfortunately will not go back to experience it.
There are other shawarmas in the hilltop area that are superior. Consistency is the key, and this location lost it. Sorry Mr. Shawarma, but you are not setting the standard. You’re letting the Norfolk OG down.

Don’t order online on a Sunday night. They will give you a half hour later window during this time your food will sit in a bag to get soggy and cold. You will spend 36.00 for soggy and cold food. When you arrive they will be cleaning the store and won’t remember the name on your order because it was 30 minutes ago. I had heard great reviews and high hopes. This is a management issue. The people will follow their leader. The leader has lost the way to excellence.

Honestly, I can’t get enough of this place. They always do a great job and the workers are well trained. The manager is so nice to everyone. I really love coming here and the service I get makes it even better.

Fresh Mediterranean style food with my favorite being the falafel. The pita bread is also a highlight and the sides are fresh and delicious. Service is like Chipotle and super friendly. Inside is clean and modern, and there are also tables outside in a small patio. Prices are very reasonable too.

Great second location here in VA Beach, it's a new building so everything is clean and very inviting.
The food is the same as the Norfolk location, always fresh and hot. The falafel are amazingly soft and moist on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside.
You can't go wrong with any of their meats for the shawarma, I always get the beef, lamb, and chicken mix.
It's a simple menu, easy to understand and order from even if it's your first time. The staff are very polite and helpful so you won't feel pressured. They take their time to answer any questions.
