Pungo Boys BBQ

Catering Order: I was visiting the Virigina Beach area (Sandbridge Beach) and needed to cater a family gathering for 40ppl. After reading the reviews and reviewing the catering menu, I submitted a catering request through the Pungo Boys BBQ website. I received a call almost immediately from Jim. He was very kind and extremely helpful in advising how much we would need to feed a group our size. Through our conversation, he learned we were a military family and when I received the invoice for our order, there was a military family discount included! On the day of our event, we opted to pick up the catering from the restaurant. It was ready on time, the staff helped us to load it in the car and doubled checked the order before we departed. The food itself was DELICIOUS - pulled pork, brisket, BBQ chicken, baked beans, mac and cheese, green beans, coleslaw, cucumber salad, and banana pudding for dessert. It was a hit with our crowd. The most popular sides were the mac and cheese and the baked beans, and Jim was on point with how many pounds of BBQ we would need to feed a group our size. And the day following our event, Jim contacted me to see if everything went well. Great customer service from beginning to end! Stopped here for lunch while visiting the Aviation Museum. The staff was warm & welcoming. The restaurant was clean, and pleasant.

I ordered the combo of sliced brisket, pulled pork, with 2 ribs. Hush puppies, and green beans for sides.

All of the meats had a great smokey flavor. I was very impressed with the pulled pork. It was full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The brisket likewise had great flavor, though a little fatty for my taste. Other folks may prefer that, I prefer my brisket on the lean side. Flavor was great. Ribs had a very unique rub to them. Good flavor.

Sides: Green beans were very good. They were akin to homemade green beans slow cooked by Grandma. Hushpuppies might just have been the best I've ever had. They were sensational.

I would eat here again without question.

Best BBQ sandwich I’ve ever had. Great service with a comfortable place to eat. I had a nice conversation with them and had to get the Brisket sandwich twice.
Would definitely recommend eating here!!

so there’s a whole story about how this is is best bbq i’ve had since i was child. but that’s just one guys rambling ruminations on something truly blissful he half remembers….. this bbq requires a deeper thought, a real exploration shared amount friends and bbq fiends with particular tastes and opinions. mine 5 stars…. the boys tbd but with high hopes after the bourbon allows a real exploration. anyways. literally the best se bbq ive had since 1993. bar none.

There are so many reviews that drew me to suggest to my beau to drop by. The ambiance is friendly and cozy. There’s enough seating for groups of people. Service was fast. Thought food needed more seasoning, 3 stars for sure.
