This little hole in the wall had high hopes for me because I’ve eaten at the Sakura in the Kempsville area and was pretty satisfied, however, this restaurant is NOT “all you can eat” like the other location so I will drive the extra 10 minutes to go there instead of paying 50$ for mediocre sushi.

I visited this Sakura for the first time because it’s in the neighborhood that I just moved to. I called my order in over the phone . when I went to pick up my food, I took it to the car and I realized that one of the dishes that I ordered, which was shrimp tempura looked half done. It wasn’t deep fried and I took the shrimp tempura back into the restaurant, and I politely asked the staff to deep fry it it tasted u cooked. the lady who worked there took it to the kitchen however, the man who work behind the counter who’s picture Ihave attached. This young man started cursing at me and told me if I didn’t like it for me to get out and threatened to Throw me out .there was approximately six or seven other customers in the restaurant at the time they were all Caucasian. I believe that because I was a black African-American female, the man behind the counter, thought it was OK for him to curse me out and speak to me in a disrespectful manner. Of course, I put him in his place and let him know that I’m a retired officer, and my money was given back to me. I felt that this was a racist move and that I wouldn’t recommend other customers of color to visit this restaurant. From now on, I’ll drive to the other Sakura restaurant on Lynnhaven Parkway because the food is good the atmosphere is good and the customer service is excellent. Please refrain from visiting this location on Virginia Beach Blvd. thank you. See please see my photos below. The man in the photo is the person who cursed me out.

No Yum Yum or Tempura sauce when asked, resounding No. Portions descent but very Bland Teriyaki sauce. Saki was 80% Water. Sushi rolls were very average.

My husband and I go here pretty frequently! My parents even became regulars. We wouldn’t go to any other sushi spot. Very fast, convenient, and always fresh!

They are rude. They acted like they did nit want to give me my own food. I provided all the information to the rude cook. Showed him my personal phone with confirmation. He wanted to hold my phone with his greasy hands, and show someone else. I'm not a 3rd party, I'm the customer. He finally gave me my phone, that now was oily, said something smart and gave me my order. I will tell family and friends about my experience. The fact that I had proof I paid was not Good enough for them. This service is below standards!! I will never order through the supposedly convent App again.!!

Don't bother. Extremely rude and disrespectful staff. Went here on a whim because my usual sushi spot was closed. When my sushi order came out incorrect I was scolded for it and then told after sitting there for 20 minutes that the chefs REFUSE to re-make my order. The food that they were so graciously willing to make me was mediocre at best. I highly recommend Kanpai sushi on Independence. My go-to spot. Never again will I deviate. Stay away from this awful place!

A wonderful restaurant with some delicious food! We loved both times we came here. Try the Tonkatsu! It's delicious. Also, check out their special Sushi menu on the tables, my wife got a huge platter and loved it.

I’ve been coming here for almost 15 years. I’ve tried many other sushi restaurants, but this is the best sushi I’ve had. Chefs special, spicy tuna and Christmas tree rolls are must haves. Tuna tataki is fire too. The owner is super friendly snd remembers everyone. They have great specials and are relatively cheap compared to other sushi restaurants. Try this place, you will not be disappointed!

This is my favorite place to eat salmon teriyaki. We always get the miso soup and at least one sushi roll. Everything is fresh and delicious.

One of my favorite stop spots for sushi. The employees are very friendly and polite.Throw $5 tip in the jar while Chef is prepping food and watch what Chef brings you.
