I randomly wandered in here for the first time today. I was so pleasantly surprised by how clean and adorable the place is, how sweet and professional the service was, and how yummy my meal was! I don't always order tea when I'm out and usually when I do it's just *okay* but the tea they served me here was so delicious, the best tea I've had at any of the Japanese/sushi places locally.

Soup smelled spoiled. Rice had a funny smell, was sticky and mushy. I have never had rice like that from any Japanese place. Very disappointed. Ate the meat to not completely waste my money.

Bit of a hidden gem imo. Staff was super friendly, restaurant was quite comfortable and the sushi was excellent for the price. Hopefully will be back.

This was some of the best Sushi I have had in a while. Happened upon this place and am so happy.
The miso soup is tasty and the house salad dressing is very ginger delicious!
We got a few standard house rolls and asked the Chef to surprise us with one, and we were impressed with his choice of the “La La roll” - go try it.

I tried this sushi place after going to the cinema one time anddd this is now my go-to for my cravings!! This Volcano Roll is a bomb! 😭💙 AMAZING food and staffs!! Kudos to the chefs for making amazing sushi and sashimi as always!! Thank you to the staffs for taking care of me and my family every time we dine 💙 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for you guys to try if you want good food and relaxing place to eat! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

OMG! I've found my new favorite sushi place! Visited for the first time tonight after living around the corner from it for months. The menu had so many amazing varieties of sushi rolls that it was so hard to choose. I settled for a Las Vegas roll and a simple shrimp roll. The Las Vegas roll was so delicious. I loved the spicy sauce on top of it. The shrimp roll was so tasty too. The waitress was so sweet and kind. Service, price and atmosphere was excellent. I would only suggest background music volume to be slightly lower as I found a bit loud. Overall, I HIGHLY Recommend and I will be back again soon!

Small, quaint, excellent sushi. Server staff was great and attentive. Can't complain one bit! Everyone should try it! Chesapeake roll is excellent!!!!

So we all have our go to rolls etc but tonight I tried the Pungo Roll & the Tata Roll. Both were excellent & the presentation for the Tata roll was beautiful!!

Surprisingly and pleasantly good! Our go-to place for years was Yama, but they were closed. We searched local places and gambled on Sapporo. Wasn't disappointed! Cuts were fresh, and well proportioned. Service was great. Received salad and miso on the house. 4.6 stars don't lie! Definitely a good bet in Virginia Beach.

Pizza wasn't cooked at all

I drove by this place multiple times before stopping in. It's tucked into a small corner in the shopping center. The front of the building doesn't present really well. The sign is old and faded and the graphics on the mirrored windows aren't eye-catching. I honestly didn't have high hopes.

That being said, though, this is easily the best sushi restaurant I've eaten at in the Virginia Beach and Williamsburg area. I must somewhat recent California transplant and finding good sushi has been more difficult than I expected.

I find that restaurants in the area tend to go pretty heavy on the temporal roll options. As well as too much sauces or Mayo on the rolls. It's too much competition for the fish. I'm just guessing here but it feels like fried foods and heavy sauces are there to disguise poor quality fish or tiny helpings.

Sapporo East, has a ton of interesting role options. They don't go too heavy on sauces. There are plenty of rolls that aren't just mushed, spicy tuna or fake crab. Their selection is interesting and everyone should be able to find a couple different roles that suit their taste.

A few of the standout options were the pepper tuna shumai. I can't recommend this highly enough. The ocean roll and Las Vegas roll were also fantastic. Really, everything here is head and shoulders over the other 5 to 6 restaurants in the area that I've tried.

The own ers, or who I'm assuming are the owners, always seem to be here when I'm here. They're both very nice and reasonably accommodating. Which is something I appreciate. I've never sat at the bar so I'm not sure how that experience goes. I prefer a boisterous sushi chef that I can buy sake. I haven't actually sat at the bar here so I can't comment on it.

This place is great, and you should definitely give it a try. I can't say I've tried enough restaurants in the Virginia Beach area to say definitively, but I've tried enough to know that this is a place worth visiting if you're looking for a good meal.
