The wait staff was rude. I took BF there for gusto birthday. The one I went to in Chattanooga on my birthday a few years ago was awesome. They put on a show and did the birthday celebration. Not this one. The Lobster and Fileminion was overcooked. The cook didn't put on a show. He acted like he didn't want to be there at all. He basically threw the rice at us. When BF mentioned the overcooked Lobster and steak, they wouldn't fix it. I don't mind paying that price for good food and a good experience but that was horrible. They also didn't do the birthday celebration for him. It really was a bad experience. I will never darken tne door of a Shogun again.

I have been going here since I was a child. Every year we go for my birthday celebration. Every owner has been super laid back. Hibachi is amazing. Sushi is GREAT.

HANDS DOWN my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Try the Special Cucumber roll or the Spicy Tuna Tataki ?

Vegetarian options: Vegetable hibachi is great ! Sauteed veggies. Fried rice. Try some sushi with cucumbers and avocado!

Parking: Plenty of parking, located in a shopping center.

Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly! Chef's are very friendly

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room to navigate.

UPDATE: Closed from 9/16/24-10/1/24! The place is in the process of coming under new management.

Great and fun atmosphere, and as always the hibachi food is delicious!

The food at Shogun Japanese Steak House was delicious—no complaints there. We ordered an appetizer sampler, two hibachi dinners, and a sushi roll. The hibachi chef was great, put on a fun show, and cooked everything to perfection. Unfortunately, the sushi roll never arrived and there was no follow-up from our server about it. We eventually had to cancel it because, well, it was clear they had forgotten. Mistakes happen and that’s okay!!

What really shocked me was at the end of our hibachi being cooked, we tipped the chef, assuming it would be shared among the staff, as is often the case in these types of restaurants. But imagine to our surprise when we were walking out of the dining area, when the server questioned why we didn’t leave her a separate tip. Excuse me? I’ve never encountered this level of entitlement from a server before. We explained that we left a tip with the chef and she responded with “And you didn’t want to leave a tip for me?” That is absolutely CRAZY.

Tipping culture has really gotten out of hand if servers now feel bold enough to ask customers about tips when one has already been given. A bit of tact and respect for a customer’s decision would go a long way.

In summary: great food and okay service overall, but that particular server's behavior was completely out of line and something I’ve never experienced before. I do not plan to return.

Usually love this place but recently went to grab some carry out food. One entree. Nothing else. Person who helped me was very kind and told me my total which seemed too high for what I ordered. She gave me the receipt after I agreed to the amount/paid and I figured maybe between fried rice upcharge and tax it would be 10$ over the math in my head. I tipped 5$ on the order and went home. Only later did I see she added a 15% gratuity without notice or permission to my bill. Added it in on the ticket like you would a food or drink item. So I wound up tipping >30% on a carry out order which is absolutely insane. This is also a very dishonest practice. I am one person with one entree not a party of 5 where gratuity is auto added per signage and menus. Had I been told a gratuity was added before handing over my card I would've been fine with it but this was dishonestly added in and honestly it feels like theft. I didn't order added gratuity and now I'm angry I added even more after being deceived and basically stolen from. I will not be back for this reason. The food is amazing but I value honestly above all else and this place has sadly fallen on very dishonest practices.

8-24-24 7pm. Came here with my wife and some friends but we had already eaten recently, so I told friends I’ll just order some sushi instead of hibachi. The Asian waiter asked what dinner we were getting and I told her we would probably just order sushi rolls. She looked at us and paused with shock and disgust. This alone made us almost leave. Why would we eat at a place we weren’t welcome.
The hibachi chef himself was entertaining but the server ruined the entire experience. 20mins in after everyone who ordered hibachi dinners were eating, she came back to finally take our order. My wife ordered a sushi roll and naturally she then asked me for my order next and since it was a foreign name I told her “I’ll have the…” and as I’m opening the menu to tell her the proper name, i look back up and she walked away and didn’t come back for 10 minutes. She asked me later again but at that point I lost all interest.
Just because someone doesn’t order hibachi dinner despite having multiple other options on the menu, this is absolutely no way to treat customers. Three other things I noticed… while people were literally eating, the busgirl was trying to take the plates away from them and they had to constantly tell her not to. Also, once the hibachi cook left, he shut off the fans and since there’s no music it was just dead quiet between us and another family all eating at the same table. Extremely awkward silence.
Lastly, I know it’s common for gratuity on parties but really… gratuity on a party of 4 with one small child? Not even worth coming back for a second try.

Hostess was rude and still expected a tip even after 18% gratuity was added on the check.

Love having this place close to home our whole lives. Most recently was there with a group of 12 (including a crazy 2 year-old who was awake WELL past his bedtime), and still couldn't ask for better service. Chef was awesome and our server (Sky) might be the best we've ever had!
