Wow. This bustling café has a terrific menu with an enormous variety of breakfast items, but my compliments stop there.
The service is average. Nothing significant. Our young server forgot our side dish of fresh strawberries but redeemed herself quickly enough. It was a relief actually, to eat some refreshing, fresh berries, because the rest of the food is very average and disappointing.
A decent Italian omelette, and an average “South Beach”omelette; lousy...read full review
We were seated. Order taken. Then others seated long after us. There orders were taken. Tables who ordered long after us were able to eat and leave before we received our meal. Then the cashier thought it was acceptable because they were busy. Asked for manager waited for a few more minutes. No manager shows up. What a disappointment.
Sunnyside was in walking distance to our hotel. We opted for Sunnyside rather than the expensive hotel breakfast. Sasha waited on us and was so patient with our very (very!) indecisive kiddos. She was also very attentive to our beverage refills and was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered French toast combos and waffle combos. Everything was very good and we all left with very full bellies! Cant wait to come back!

Sunnyside Cafe and Restaurant is a popular breakfast and brunch spot in Virginia Beach. The clean and friendly restaurant is known for its welcoming staff, quick service, and tasty food. The menu includes a variety of options such as the Greek Farmer's Omelet, eggs benedict, and buttery pancakes. The corned beef hash is often praised as the best around, and the bacon is always cooked perfectly. Guests can also enjoy morning spirited drinks like the Bloody Mary and Tequila Sunrise Mimosa, though opinions on their value may differ. The restaurant is accommodating to dietary restrictions and is a great place for groups, although separate checks are not available. Visitors should be prepared for a busy atmosphere and limited parking, as parking is not on-site and must be paid for at a nearby city lot. The restaurant has faced minor drawbacks like single-use plastic silverware and a limited waiting area, but the delicious food and friendly service make it a worthwhile visit. Overall, Sunnyside Cafe and Restaurant is a good choice for those in the area, offering clean restrooms and timely service.
