I was really looking forward to trying Sushi King, but my experience was disappointing from start to finish. The biggest issue was the lack of service. We were seated and waited quite a while before realizing that no one was bringing us utensils or even checking in. We had to ask for them ourselves, which should be a basic part of any dining experience. Getting water was also a struggle—I had to take it into my own hands because no one seemed to be paying attention to our table. Throughout the entire meal, the staff barely checked in on us, and we had to call someone over whenever we needed anything.
As for the food, it was just as disappointing. Even deep-fried dishes, which should be served hot and crispy, arrived cold. The rice was overly mushy, completely ruining the texture of the sushi. The soups were extremely salty and basically inedible. On top of that, the menus had a rancid smell, which was not only unappetizing but made me question the overall cleanliness of the place.
The only highlight of the restaurant was the cute cat robot that delivered food, but a gimmick can’t make up for bad food and terrible service. At the end of the day, a restaurant should prioritize good food and attentive service, and Sushi King completely missed the mark. I wouldn’t recommend it and definitely won’t be coming back.

Sushi King is by far my favorite restaurant. I usually go to the Newport News location but this one is just as good. Love the layout as well.

Love this location. They have a robot that will sing happy birthday. It was a wonderful surprise for my young one

All you can eat sushi! Had some ok sushi here. The squid was a bit chewy and the service was ok. Had a hard time hearing the server sometimes. It also was pretty empty as well. The price is a bit expensive @21.99 for dinner per adult and @10.99 for 7-11 yr olds. Other than that, I got my money's worth. But I couldn't go too often. Lunch however isn't that bad. I feel like you get a better deal with lunch than dinner.

Kid-friendliness: They have chicken nuggets and french fries for those who have children.

Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap spaces and ramp available.

Not a bad place to eat. Service was good and food was hot. Not the best sushi but far from the worst.

It's buffet ,but u don't have to go get your food, waiter takes order and they make it fresh, which is great.but why was my shrimp fried rice last after my friends ate, mine comes? Hot 😡, Place wasn't crowded.started about 15 ended bout 40 people.I probably would try only once again just to see if diff experience.

Ugh, I wanted to love it.. I came here with my kids for a treat. They had the cool robot. The service was meh - the waitress and waiter both acted like they didn’t want to be there and were not personable at all. I had two people with me and the waiter added an automatic gratuity. Very distasteful! I would have given a much bigger tip but the fact that he added it for me rubbed me the wrong way. For 82 bucks, I could have just want to China King. I frequent the one in downtown Norfolk and that location is so much better when it comes to the food and the vibes.

Came here for my birthday dinner at the very end of the year. They were pretty busy due to the holidays and were down to one sushi chef, so they warned us when we were sat that it may be a few minutes to get our meals. Ariyan was our server and he was very attentive and helpful! The sushi was relatively quick despite the warning, which leads me to believe they’re usually super fast! We got sweet potato, eel avocado, orchard roll, dragon roll, American dream roll, and rainbow roll! We almost had to be rolled out of there, we were so full and it was so delicious!

I've visited this restaurant with different name changes since 2009. This used to be our favorite buffet restaurant. It makes us sad that it's gone so down hill. The food is now flavorless and not worth the $80+ for 3 people. We had a little bit of everything and it's just not what it used to be.
