Great food
The GM made some special accommodations to make sure that me and my family were extraordinarily satisfied with the timing and quality of food. The multigrain best I have had my 1 year old boy Achilles loved it too.
I recommend any sandwich- you can't go wrong, the Route 11 chips, and the Chantilly lime bar.
SO GOOD. The food is so good and taste so fresh. The inside is cute and cafe style. It was clean and line was well managed. There was a little shop around the spot that was great food and alcohol for sale. As well as premade items. The wait is long especially during the summer so if you’re doing take out beware there may be a wait. For us it was an hour so we ordered early. Will be going back to eat during this vacation.
I used to love taste but lately it’s been so bad. The last FIVE times I’ve been yall have given me the wrong food. I’m beyond disappointed in the decline of this place
Pricy for lunch
Food was good but $$. Menu does not allow for substitute or omissions on smoothies.
Taste at the Virginia Beach waterfront, specifically the Oceanfront location on Pacific Avenue, offers a consistently enjoyable experience for those seeking fresh, quality sandwiches, salads, and gourmet provisions. It's a solid four-star destination for a satisfying and slightly elevated casual meal by the beach.
What truly sets Taste apart is its commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtfully crafted menu items. Their sandwiches are the real draw – always fresh, with unique combinations and that famous house dressing that elevates even a simple turkey and cheddar. The bread is consistently good, and the fillings are generous. Beyond sandwiches, their salads are fresh and vibrant, and they often have delicious homemade soups. It's a great alternative to typical boardwalk fare, offering something a bit more wholesome and refined.
The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting, though it can get busy, especially during lunch rushes and peak season. While not directly on the boardwalk with ocean views, its proximity to the beach makes it a convenient and desirable stop. The dual concept of a specialty food market and a cafe is a nice touch, allowing you to pick up gourmet snacks, wines, and gifts alongside your meal. This makes it a great spot to grab a picnic for the beach or supplies for your rental.
Service is generally efficient and friendly, even when the lines are long. The staff is knowledgeable about the products and can offer recommendations. It's clear they take pride in what they offer.
So, why not five stars? While the food quality is high, the prices can be on the higher side for what is essentially a sandwich shop, which might deter some for everyday dining. Also, at times, especially when very busy, the service can feel a little rushed, and finding a table can be a challenge. It's a fantastic spot for grabbing food to go or for a quick, quality bite, but it might not be the place for a lingering, leisurely meal.
However, for its reliable quality, delicious sandwiches, and convenient location near the Virginia Beach waterfront, Taste is a highly recommended stop. It's a step above standard beach grub and a favorite for a reason.
Best counter-serve restaurant in VA Beach. The ingredients are fresh, food quality is top notch, and the staff are extremely friendly.
My custom avocado salmon bowl was delicious as is the included bread.
The chicken curry wrap I had the day before was also a great value and they did not skimp on the filling.
I will definitely make this a regular stop.
Excellent customer service and delicious sandwich.

We love Taste! Our first experience, upon relocating here, was the Brunswick stew with fresh french bread, truly delightful. When my husband entered our apartment elevator, the first time with a 'Taste'bag, residents said, "We love that restaurant." That just doesn't happen often! Recently, we dined in for lunch, and my husband had to have Peter's Pick sandwich and the Brunswick stew. I chose the stew and a salad complete with ancient grains, sweet potatoes, whipped goat cheese, pomegranate seeds and more. We brought fresh cookies home, a vegan chocolate chip and a white chocolate-chip/cranberry! Difficult to resist!

This TASTE is the best out of all of em. Always has the softest cookies and the nicest staff. It's like the modern "cheers" where everyone knows your name.

Honestly I was totally disappointed. The food was DISGUSTING. I got 80$ of take out, and had to through most of it away! They really just give you piles upon piles of barely cooked MUSH. I will NEVER go back there again.
