This was my first visit, but my wife has been many times and promises me this was a rare occasion. Waitress was very unpleasant, and disinterested. We only saw her to place our order and give us our check. I would have liked ketchup with my potatoes but never got the opportunity to ask. My meal was cold. I ordered a burrito, my wife could tell it was cold because the grease in the meat was solidifying. Add the 45 minute wait and forced gratuity. Outdoor bartender is a rockstar, and best part of the visit.

Celebrated my daughter's birthday, great food, great service and a pleasing atmosphere. This was our fourth or fifth time to The Bee, we've never left disappointment!
PS Very Good Bloody Mary's!

The atmosphere is great, but I’m not going to go here often. Parking is valet only, typically you tip the attendants. Tips for service are 18% and included in your check for any size party, so if I have a alcoholic drink or coffee included with my meal, which adds a considerable $$ to the bill, I’m paying 18% service for just bringing me a drink. The food is good, and the menu has a good variety. I had the chicken salad and it came on a croissant. The croissant was useless. The salad all fell apart and out, the chunks of chicken are so large. It did taste good, just isn’t sandwich style chicken salad.
Even though the place was not busy, I had to wait outside in the cold for the other person in my party before being seated inside. The chairs were covered in pollen, so could not sit and wait.
All in all, the place is overpriced for what you are getting.

My husband and I are celebrating our 13 year anniversary on the 17th. We spent the weekend at the beach and had this place on our radar for a few months. There was a 20 minute wait. We grabbed a drink at the outside bar and stayed warm by the fire pit. Both of us loved our breakfast (the cinnamon toast crunch pancakes were PHENOMENAL).. I got a Latte to go. Absolutely worth the wait. 💯 recommend.
Brunch was good, definitely not exceptional to make up for the waiting time. We had to wait 1:30 hours and by the time they had a table for us they were cleaning the restaurant because they said they were closing. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

The wait is MORE than worth it! This place is Number 2 on my wife and I’s Top 5 best restaurants we have ever eaten at together. The Big Farm Truck meal was fantastic. Absolutely recommend and will go back if the chance arises!!!

TL;DR our estimated 1 hour and 20 minute wait turned into an over 2 hour wait because they sat someone else when it was our turn on the wait list.
My friends have raved about this place to me for a few months. My wife and a couple friends decided to go check it out on a Sunday morning (their busiest time). We knew we'd probably wait an hour or more.
When we got there, we put our name on the list and were told the wait would be 1 hr 20 mins. I wasn't even mad because we expected it and they have a really cool outdoor bar and lounge area to wait. After an hour I received a text saying it was almost our turn.
After about 20 minutes later, we started to wonder what was going on. I went to the check in stand to figure out what was going on. They told me another 15 minutes. After another 30 minutes I went back and asked again. They showed me the list, and my name was no longer there. Turns out they had seated someone else in our place. They need to verify the phone number of people they seat because anyone can just steal your table.
Food and atmosphere were dope but I'm skeptical to go back because of this.

The food was amazing! I had the Lieutenant Dan seafood omelet with crab meat, grits, cheese, and potatoes, a mimosa, and some yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. It was delicious!

I used to love to come here, but the last time we went the breakfast did not feel fresh, the home made fries they tasted sour they were really oily they put too much oil and they taste like they were reheated, the biscuits were not fresh either. Used to be good.

The biscuits are amazing and the atmosphere is very cute. But when the host just says you're going to have a 2-hour wait she means it. But fortunately there was a bar open outside.

Food was mid and borderline cold- grits were not very savory, leaned more towards sweet for cheddar grits and breakfast wrap was also bland. Was cold in the heated patio as well. Kind of disappointing after waiting 90 minutes to be seated. Probably won’t be back considering the quality didn’t outweigh the time and price.

This is my first time here and I love the valet service. We had a 20 min wait where we warmed ourselves at their outdoor waiting area. You were able to play board or card games while you wait. There is also an outdoor bar where you can order a hot or cold drink. This was a nice touch. The inside however was crowded. It felt like everyone was on top of one another. If you decide to go I would suggest a day where it’s not very busy. I ordered the Harvester Omelette it was good but basic, not much flavor and I had their side of cheese grits. The cheese grits were surprisingly good. I also ordered a 3.00 biscuit because they must be good because of the name of the restaurant. Let’s get one thing straight they should name the restaurant “the bee” only because their biscuits were anything BUT good. They were not flavorful at all. You definitely will have to add your own salt to these because they lacked flavor. I was extremely disappointed. We drove at least 45 min to this restaurant because of my sister’s recommendation. I will definitely not come here again because it is NOT worth the trip or the money. It is over priced and the food is definitely nothing to write home about. Sorry The Bee and The Biscuit if I were you, I would rethink the biscuit recipe. Please Note: The two stars were because of the cheese grits ONLY otherwise you would have received a one star! Although, I have read the other reviews and maybe if I had other food choices I would feel differently but I was not that impressed to find out.

The wait for our food was almost an hour for an omelet and eggs benedict. 18% auto gratuity and the owners responses to reviews complaining about the auto tip are a prime example of blaming customers instead of just paying their employees better. The food is also ridiculously expensive for what you get. It's either over seasoned or under seasoned. Just go to the egg bistro, they actually have real service and the prices are great.

DO NOT RECOMMEND RESTAURANT TO AFRICAN AMERICANS | I had my reenlistment ceremony here with many high ranking officials from the Navy. The day before the event, I drove 40 minutes to the location to confirm & see if the restaurant will accommodate my party well because I wasn’t receiving a reply from email. After speaking with a Karen Johnson, I decided that a room wasn’t needed because of the lengthy requirements & highly expensive just to have the space & I was only dining with 6 people. The next day, my reenlistment, when my party arrived, the hostess placed my party in the large room, that we confirmed wasn’t needed. Then instructed that we all would have to spend $75 a piece to dine in that room, which again wasn’t needed because we were only a party of six. My coworkers were also spoke to me about how rudely the host & waitresses made they feel. They received long, hard stares & when asked a question to someone in the establishment, they were met with responses in disrespectful tones. Because there was no budge on large room, I kept it. We drove 40 minutes & were exhausted at this point, we just wanted to eat. While dining in room, we were rudely interrupted multiple times by a waitress claiming she left something in the room. If you barged in once, why weren’t you able to get all that you needed for the first time? I know if we were any other race, we wouldn’t be treated as such. My party was instructed to wait outside, until the room was ready at a fairly empty restaurant, my party & I received attitude as soon as entering & ordering food. When asked about the menu items, we were treated with responses as if we’re children. My reenlistment was supposed to be special and about me, yet at the table all we could think & talk about was how terrible the experience was. There are many people in the military in Virginia, including black people, they acted like they never seen black people with Navy uniforms on. We were respectable & kind & yet treated as if we walked into a white only establishment to cause trouble. I do not recommend this location or possibly establish to any black person. They don’t need our money, take it somewhere where you know you’ll be treated like what we deserve, THE BEST!

Edit with response: mandatory gratuity is getting the national backlash it deserves and you’re part of the problem. Your sympathy trap statement is fixed by paying your employees yourself instead of the buck-passing disguised as fake nobility.
Everything great (the food, the politeness, etc.) gets ruined by the following:
After getting the food you ordered, after enjoying it and liking the quality of the food, the waitress comes with the ticket and sneaks in “here’s your check by the way there’s an 18% gratuity built in have a good dayyyyy!”
Please knock that off. It immediately makes me want to tip you nothing when I had planned on offering a large one.
