Holiday Inn markets itself as an upper tier family hotel. This part of the chain is not family friendly. There were two electrical plugs in room #521. One beside the small round pedestal table and one directly across from it between the bed and the window. The table could not have two kids/teens sitting at it unless they can share very well. There was only one end table in the room so I had to use a chair for an end table to place my book and my water on beside the bed. Or I could walk around the bed to use the end table that was between the two beds and my wife was using. If you hare a family of 4 you will notice that there is only the end table in the center so your kids will not be able to game until they fall asleep, or the video games will be on the floor. There are insufficient plugs and flat surfaces in the main room. The bathroom had the plug in the wall opposite from the door way, above and near the toilet. So if you need to use the port for an electric razor or a curling iron you will get in the way of someone using the bathroom or washing their hands. The towels are by the plug-in. In order to stop light from leaking into the room, we had to uude the pants hanger and clip the shades together. They hotel staff does not stay on top of cleanliness or maintenance. On Saturday I reported that there was a broken car window in the overflow lot. The glass was still there Sunday Morning even though our group filled the parking lot on Saturday. Saturday morning there was litter left all over the 3rd floor balcony. They finally got a trash can up there later in the day. Sunday it appears that the restaurant in the hotel did not do the hotel any favors. They piled their garbage on the pool deck in plain sight by the conference rooms that we were using. There is only one stall in the men's room by ballroom F. One of the 4 toilet paper dispensers was broken and the support railing pulled out a quarter inch from the wall.

Don’t get misled by the look from the outside. This hotel has better days and the service lacks from A-Z. They do housekeeping service ONLY on demand. In fact housekeeping does not exist. All they do is changing towels and empty your bin. If you are lucky, they make your bed too. Stain in the hallways. Rooms smell, due to lack of air circulation. Room windows are sealed and no fresh air coming from the outside. A healthy sleep and rest period is impossible due to the constant traffic noise of the nearby interstate. Bottom line, we will never book this hotel again and advise you to avoid it too. There are much better places for the same rates.

This hotel needs updating badly. The room is large and spacious, but it is dingy and not super clean. Most hotels offer free breakfast (even other Holiday Inns), but this one doesn't. The sink is stopped up often, and the floors are sticky at times. Most of the staff is not attentive, but there is one guy who is very personable and nice. Parking gets full often due to many construction workers staying here. I have stayed here many times due to work, but I prefer another hotel due to these issues.

Difficult to book conference venue it almost seemed as if they didn't want the business. 2 week training conference with 3 people staying at the hotel. General appearance of both the hotel and the staff attitude could be summed up at dingy, tired and lackadaisical! House keeping is largely non-existent (on demand) and the hallways are daily clogged with the garbage from the extended stay guests. Laundry rooms are filthy and 1 of 6 machine was working during our stay, except for 3 of the 14 days where the laundry room was closed for repairs . The restaurant attached to the hotel couldn't figure out their opening hours, their menu or their staffing priorities. The final straw was having to wait 45 mins after the posted opening hour to have breakfast. The management staff response to these concerns was to identify themselves as front desk staff, not responsible for the restaurant and apparently unconcerned about hotel services (or lack thereof) for the hotel guests. I would not recommend this Hotel for overnight stays, family visits or business/professional venues. I have recommended to my employer that this particular hotel be taken off our standing list of venues in the Virginia Beach area.

Your staff is fantastic, Marie went way out of her way to accommodate me and help me. I am handicapped and she got me a wheelchair to get me around. She made arrangements for me to move to a closer room for our reunion. Do not, and let me repeat that, do not lose this young lady. She is a asset to your hotel

I was weary of this hotel after reading that it was dirty - cleanliness is #1 on my list, but it was one of our team hotels so we took a chance. It turned out great! Okay, maybe the dining area needed some moping, but our rooms were otherwise very clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast set a standard for me for Holiday Inn Express, variety of hot food, CEREAL!, fruit, water...it was wonderful. I've since stayed in other Holiday Inns whose breakfast doesn't compare.

Had to switch rooms up to 4 times. Room smelled of urine. Next room smelled of mold. Bathroom wasn’t clean. Door handle fell off 4 days into the stay. The lock had to be replaced so left that room. Third room my boyfriend got shocked trying to plug something into the outlet and sparks flew out. None of the outlets or TV worked. They switched me to a King Suite which is supposed to be the best of the best. This room 3 days in I saw roaches crawling on the floor. Whether that’s normal in this area or not. That is just nasty & should not be occurring. Finally at that point I didn’t bother complaining, it’s pointless switching rooms because they each suck. I am now switching hotels. Also, cleaners do a terrible job cleaning rooms. I had to request up to 4 times in the course of a week to different people before I went to a maid directly telling her she needs to clean my room because I’ve asked way too many times. Even then I needed my floor vacuumed and there was still crumbs and things on the floor so clearly they didn’t. (If you ask them to clean they do it the following day). People are just lazy now can’t do their job thoroughly these days. I was about to ask them for supplies so I could do the stuff myself. Overall just 1/10 rating and that’s being nice, the only good thing about the hotel is the pool & bar.

This is the worst travel accommodation we've ever experienced. Hotel is DIRTY. Very dirty. ARRIVAL: Late at night and after driving a few hundred miles they put us in a room with one double bed (we booked two doubles, and even called to confirm before arriving). They switched our room, put us on the first floor and would not move the room because they said nothing was available. Walking through the hotel to the room you will see stained carpets, very dark hallways, trash on the hallway floors leading up to our room. Also noticed flies and mosquitos all over the walls leading to the room. The trash on the hallway floors leading to the room has been here for three days, they haven't vacuumed since we arrived. ROOM: Opened bathroom door to find a hole in the ceiling with peeling paint and mold around the shower head, a second hole on another wall in the shower, toilet paper in the toilet, and a dirty tub. Room smells like smoke and dirty carpets. Ceilings in the shower (aside from the mold and the hold) were only about an inch off my son's head (he's 6'1"). They don't clean the rooms. Left for the day on second day and toilet got stopped up while gone. Returned to a room that now smelled like sewage and smoke. Fixed the holes in the wall but still refused to change the room. We were gone while they fixed the wall and ceiling, but returned to a tub fill of paint chips, dirty ceiling dry wall, any maybe even some mold. Other things about the room: curtains are very dirty, carpet is dirty and smelly, and can't open the door without getting mosquitos from hallway into room. SERVICE: The hotel staff is actually very friendly. That said, bagged trash all over halls outside of rooms, bugs on floors in hallways, and just overall a very dirty grimy place. SECURITY: Door in the hallway near our room on first floor was open and unlocked 24 hours a day. We are leaving and checkout out early.

The front desk was very attentive and polite, and the General Manager quickly resolved an issue I had with booking that I had erroneously inputted when making my reservation. Customer service isn't dead at this location! Would highly recommend!
