Our waitress was very good.What really has taken me away is the Extra $7 on my bill to help with their credit card processing fee basically. I think that is so wrong of companies to charge you more if you don't pay with cash. Bad taste for me.....

Came here for dinner. The seafood nachos were good, but it went downhill from there. The temp was incorrect for both me and my husband’s steaks. Our steaks, scallops and potatoes were EXTREMELY salty to the point where neither one of us finished our food. After asking for the check, we let the waitress know our concerns, just for future reference and we were not looking for a comp. Our waitress said that she would have her manager come over, but he never came. We had some guy come over (that did not introduce himself) and ask if we needed water and boxes. After that, the waitress came back and told us that the seasoning on the food is a “proprietary blend” and to “ask for light seasoning next time”. Also, she told us to cut into the steaks when we first get them next time so that we can know if it’s cooked to our liking. I feel like this should have been explained to us when we first sat down being that this was our first time there.

Their Brunch is awesome. First time doing the Chicken and waffle thang. It didn’t disappoint. The mimosas were on point also. What was not on point was their cookies and milk. I don’t do milk. I just ordered the cookies and I expected them to be warm like not long out the oven. They were cold and not good at all. Smh. Other than that, 7.5 of of 10.

I had a terrible experience at The Butcher’s Son. I booked a nice dinner for my wife and I for Valentine’s Day and it didn’t meet our expectations at all. This was my first time visiting the restaurant & probably my last.To make a long story short, both of our main entrees came out cold and salty. Mind you, I’m expecting a hot juicy steak and fresh sides to go along with it. We got the complete opposite. When I brought this information to the server, she let the manager know. The manager came out with a nonchalant & annoyed attitude, asking me “So the server said you wanted to talk to me?” The interaction was rude and unsettling. He ended the conversation saying “We’ll see what we can do.”Once I got my bill, it turns out he gave me a measly $5-6 off of my meal as a “courtesy”. Not only was I unsatisfied with the food, but now I was even more satisfied with the customer service & the way they handled that situation. I thought it was a joke but they were dead serious with how they wanted to resolve that issue.I understand businesses get busy and sometimes short staffed on holidays, but this was completely unacceptable. I will not be returning here for any future events or dinners.

Our steaks were cooked really well and the sides were good too. The Caesar salad was okay but half the lettuce wasn't edible as it was the base of the head. It wasn't cut through all the way, which made it hard to eat on the small plate it was served on. The dressing was really delicious though! Service was nothing better than I'd expect from any big chain restaurant, which was really disappointing considering the price. Our server wasn't awful but again, not what I'd expect from this place. He only checked on us once for the duration of the meal and we didn't hear the specials or know they had them until we heard the table next to us get the info from their server. I wouldn't not go back but it wouldn't be my first recommendation to someone.Parking: Plenty of spots, restaurant is in a small strip mall style location.

03/13/24Had the steak special again the early bird. Great value.10/17/23Lindsay was our server, she was very nice and remembered my Mom from a previous dining experience. We did the 26 dollar 4-5:30 steak special for 2. You get two sides with that. Listen the steaks are small but for what you are paying you can't beat it. I got cucumber salad which was awesome and potato wedges, another stand out. They also have drink specials (happy hour). So that helps. It was a great time. Staff was very friendly. I would have it again.

My wife and I ate there and ordered the "early bird" (they may call it something else) sirloin steak with two sides. The steak was cooked the temperature we ordered, but it was extremely TOUGH. Even though it was small, we couldn't eat it all. We both also got a baked potato; it was not warm enough to melt butter. We complained about the meat, but got no response from the server. The bread was good.

Everything was good. The service and the food was excellent until we sat down for my daughter 23rd birthday on March 5, 2024. When we was seated and started to have conversations with everyone we noticed nets flying around us. At first it was one or two but when we got our food we seen more. I called the waitress over and told her what was going on she said yes we noticed them today but we didn't have any yesterday. We really couldn't enjoy our meals. So we boxed our food up and left. I have ate there several times and never had that problem.
I took my wife to Butcher's Son on Valentine's Day (2024). We arrived when the restaurant first opened and it was empty (all of the tables were open). The manager was very rude and would not seat me or my wife claiming that every seat in the restaurant was reserved. My wife and I stood there looking at an empty restaurant in shock. We could not believe customer service was that bad at The Bucher's Son. We went to another restaurant in the same plaza called Cobalt Grill that was just opening as well and they welcomed us. To our surprise, the food, customer service and atmosphere was better than The Bucher's Son. The owner also visited our table twice to check on us.
My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner and this is by far the best meal from top to bottom that we’ve ever had. For appetizers we got the French dip egg rolls and pork belly. I also got the she crab soup and for entrees we got the 8oz filet with Mac n cheese with green beans and the beef tip pasta. The appetizers alone made this visit a 10/10. The French dip egg rolls were to die for and the pork belly was super tender and made even more delicious by the corn salsa. The filet was cooked to perfection and the Mac and cheese was flavorful and cheesy. The she crab soup was some of the best I’ve had and the pasta was amazing! The service was also great which added to the overall experience. This will definitely be a staple for future beach visits. My only regret would be not taking any pictures!

Very disappointed with the Butcher's Son. My husband made a reservation for our 1st Valentine's Day as a married couple.We have not heard great things about the Butcher's Son, but wanted to give it a chance and try it out for ourselves. We were patient and understanding, realizing that it was a busy night and were sure that the staff was doing their best to keep up. We ended up receiving cold food that tasted as though it was doused in salt. We expressed our concern to our waitress who simply shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know what happened. We tried to continue our dinner and just have a nice evening, but the food was terrible. When the waitress came to give our check, my husband let her know how dissatisfied we were. A few minutes later, without introducing himself at all, the manager came over because we "requested" him, which we didn't, and offered a $6.00 discount to our $100+ meal. I called the following day and spoke with Dominick about our experience. He offered a gift card and once I shared that we will not be returning, he offered to give a portion of our bill back. He stated that he needed the GM to do so. I have called to follow up and have yet to hear anything back. Now, 2 weeks later, I've called again after not hearing from anyone only for the GM to hang up on me in the middle of me speaking.We should have listened to the rumors about the terrible service and food. We won't make that mistake again.

Making a reservation online was easy through their website.Decadent and flavorful lamp chops were so satisfying!! My toddler daughters enjoyed the steak bites so much they asked for them at dinner the next night.

Butchers & Son Chophouse is BEST steak place in VA Beach! It was our first time coming here which my mom ordered a stuffed chicken which was cooked to perfection very moist and not dry! Also our server was very friendly, attentive, she knew the whole menu as well walked us thru the whole menu which was absolutely amazing as well gave us her reccomendations, she check ed on us often as well refilled our drinks wothout asking which was amaxing! I ordered Brian special which the steak was cooked and tasted to perfection along with the ceasr salad, stuff shrimp imperia, with a side of spinach rossoto!! Thank You so much as our experience and making lir family night here in Va beach amazing!! Highly reccomend Butchers & son chophouse so the food is amazing!!!!Kid-friendliness: They had a great variety of food choices for the kids, which i thought was amazing!
