Let me start this by saying I have been coming to The Green Cat for years and this review is from one particular experience.I went to The Green Cat today for 2 smoothies, one for myself and one for my 5 year old son who hates bananas. You already know where I’m going…I ordered my smoothie with no modifications and asked for a Shredder without bananas. The woman at the counter was pleasant and asked I’m assuming a manager on how to ring up the smoothie. She came over, typed something on the computer and I was charged $2 extra for ‘add-on’s’. When I asked what the additional add on’s were for since I asked for no banana, I got a very snippy response on how per their menu any modifications are $4, and strawberries are more expensive. This statement is also listed on the full size let’s say adult smoothies- not the children’s smoothies. Also, what if my child had an allergy to bananas? Would I have been charged more for an allergy? Back to the charge, if I had not asked, there wouldn’t have been an explanation. Additionally, I have bought my son strawberry smoothies multiple times before from Green Cat without being charged more for less. She went on to ask me if I didn’t want agave to which I asked if I would be charged more if I said no. Which I believe agave isn’t included on the Shredder. After I asked, she clearly rolled her eyes at me and walked away without a response. The gentleman who handed my smoothies to me was pleasant and we went on our way. But this experience with not only deter me to visit as often as well as recommend this place to friends and family.

My favorite is the strawberry toast with cacao nibs: sweet, nutritious treat.On hot days I get the affogato: oat milk soft serve with espresso and cacao nibs. You can beat this one.Stroll through the gift shop. This owner has some really nice clothing, jewelry, book offerings.I always eat outside. The covered porch dining is delightful.Vegetarian options: You’ll be happy with what you find here. Many options.Dietary restrictions: Vegan, gluten free, vegetarian options are the whole pointParking: Most of the time, the parking lot has space, but it is not large. Street parking makes up for it.Kid-friendliness: Choose a ready to eat treat for impatient kids. Lots of fruit-based drinks and food that kids love.

This is our FAVORITE vegan restaurant ever. We do a lot of traveling and have journeyed far and wide. The Green Cat is the only place where I am able to eat everything on the menu due to their healthy cooking habits.The soups are phenomenal, my favorite is the kale and quinoa salad. Their desserts are out of this world. They also make a peanut salad that is pretty awesome as well in the grab and go cooler. Truly, everything has been delicious and the menu changes daily!Their food is also perfect now for our daughter who has recently been diagnosed type 1 diabetes. The desserts do not spike her blood sugar as refined sugar and processed ingredients would. In fact none of their food spikes her blood sugars out of control as other food options do. She can eat out and not have to pay for it later.Thank you Green Cat for all yall do. So much love from the Outer Banks! Until next time!Vegetarian options: All vegan!

Very good plant based/vegan shop. The cherry and chia oatmeal was very good as is their milkshakes. Can be a bit in the pricy side but we’ll worth it.

This place is lovely! I don't leave reviews, but the kindness the gentleman showed at the checkout was amazing. He made sure all of my questions were answered and was patient. The food was also amazing. The kale salad was excellent and the tomatoes added a surprisingly sweet bite throughout the salad. Well done!!!
