The Route 58 Deli

Definitely a must try. Ordered the Rueben Dogs with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut and was highly satisfied. The desserts are above and beyond. Will definitely be back!

This place has been shut down for quite some time. I've been here quite a few times. I've turned other people on to this place. I talk about this place all the time when I'm referring to 'Disco Fries'. I can't really prove anything without the place being open. I know it's a hard thing and hard times to deal with a very important person who made this place what it is and was. He is gone and he made many people such as I, very happy. There are a lot of people who miss Jeff. He will always be missed. Not until Rt 58 opens again for the people who miss him the most. The food! The atmosphere! The greatness he brought to the food industry in Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads! I can no longer describe to people about the size of reubens and sandwiches in general without these same people seeing them for themselves. It is only fair to those people that this journey was never false in any way, but the truth about the great food we miss so much! Please as I try to speak for every fan of RT 58 deli, please come back and bring back that happiness to the people you made happy!

This place has New York style sandwiches, some of the best Reubens I've ever had. I always have to split one with the wife just because it's so much to eat. I can't even finish it by myself. If I tried Even splitting it, I can barely finish it. Great service and great attitude. Definitely would recommend

As a New Jersey native, this was a wonderful taste of home! The authentic NJ/NYC atmosphere was such a surprise to find tucked away in a Virginia Beach strip mall. Our server, Nancy, was a gem. She was warm and friendly with a quick sense of humor. But all of this was overshadowed by the most amazing rueben I have ever had. Ginormous and generous and perfectly designed. (I’ve had too many places in Hampton Roads ask what kind of bread i want my Rueben on. If you have to ask, it’s NOT a Rueben.) my table mates all had similarly wonderful sandwiches that were all too big to finish. We brought home some NY cheesecake that i will eat right after my food coma nap. Can’t wait to go back again!

Too good to not immediately leave a review!!! I’m a typical woman when it comes to food. I NEVER know what I want and I’m EXTREMELY picky. I’ve never had sauerkraut and I’m normally not too fond of sauces or cheese. The Super Ruben is a MUST TRY! Pricey, but worth every penny. Hands down best sandwich I have ever eaten! I tried the strawberry cheesecake which I could live without. Better cheesecake than the Cheesecake Factory, but not worth the difference in price.

So they close at 4pm and we didn’t know that …. But Heather, the manager, came to the door and told us she has extra corn beef and cabbage dinners. This is what you call real service. Thank you so much Heather and staff. Also we were got a piece of Cheesecake. Amazing food and service. ?????

After hearing so much hype over this place I decided to try it out. Was a little over $10.00 for two chili dogs. The hot dogs themselves are very small. The buns split in half dumping chili all over my hands and pants. Waiter couldn't even keep a glass of water full. Prices in my opinion are rather high. But maybe if you like big sandwiches they aren't bad. Definitely not for me.

I will start by saying that, I've never actually been to this restaurant, however, i am a friend of the owner. I just wanted to attest to the kind of man he is. He is incredibly kind and a genuine person. I am currently located in missouri and will be visiting his restaurant in the near future. Be blessed all!

This isn't the first time I've eaten at The Route 58 Deli, but it may be my last. The online menu is very outdated in terms of pricing. This is the best corned beef reuben I've ever had, but at $28 for just a sandwich, not one I can afford. Additionally, it feels like there is significantly less corned beef and significantly more sauerkraut. I understand the rationale for the price hike, but unfortunately it's hiked its way right out of my budget. Bummer.

If you’re a self proclaimed foodie like me this is a must stop. If you like two hours away this is a must stop. A local New York Deli located in Virginia Beach. When you travel to this establishment make sure to have an empty stomach you will want to try everything. I would recommend matzah ball soup, a urban sandwich (can feed 2), and a slice of cake/cheesecake. Beware one slice will run you close to $18 after tax but can feed 2-3 people!

Oh my goodness, the reuben here is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life! Classic diner food, quick and efficient service. Can't wait to go back this summer! Our server was a blonde woman with short hair, she was lovely.

Absolute perfection. Recommend the pastrami sandwich and the super Reuben. Great desserts as well.Excellent service and very friendly staff. You MUST try this place.

I am from up north and every now and then you want a reminder. This is where you want to go for that feel. Service is always great. The food is like my northern home.
