The Rustic Spoon

Overall great quality food, great flavor, and good price. Ordered the chicken and waffles and “The Spoon” (eggs, bacon, potato, and toast) and tried their apple pie pancakes. The chicken and waffles drizzled with hot honey were one of my top 3 on chicken and waffles I’ve had. For the other breakfast plate, the scrambled eggs were really creamy and buttery. But the toast was heavily burnt, almost like charcoal, but I suspect it’s a one off thing? Even the potatoes were seasoned well. The apple pie pancakes tasted like apple pie! I wish there were more chunks of apple in it, we had one piece of apple 😅

We didn’t try any of their drinks, but they do have a bar.

Overall, we would come back again. The price, flavor, quality of food along with portion size is great. Service was ok. Surprisingly there is a second floor with additional seating!

Great variety of delicious cocktails. The shrimp and grits entree is amazing, so flavorful. I wish the steak and eggs came with a larger cut (5oz) but it was still good.

This was a hidden gem and I will return again and again. I had the special sweet potato ham biscuits with fresh strawberry 🍓 preserves. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and the service was A1.

Our daughter in law brought us to this awesome place since my wife and I were visiting here for the first time...The wait staff was efficient and polite. The food was fantastic...!!!

Moved to VB last May and this is easily the best restaurant I have eaten at. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and it was the best fried chicken I have had in Virginia. Actual fresh not frozen chicken thigh and breaded in the kitchen versus some frozen chunk. Also split the fried green tomato’s and crab bite app which was also fantastic. Our server Jessica was also awesome. Service was prompt and she made solid recommendations. Definitely coming back!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The service, the food, the patio atmosphere were all amazing. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, too.

Everything about our brunch today was amazing. Our Apple Cider Mimosas arrived just as pretty and tasty as the Thanksgiving weekend deserved. They had a cinnamon roll special as well that day that was the perfect balance of cinnamon and icing and doughy goodness. Mom had the grits with country ham and they did the south proud with their grits - yum. My dad and I shared the crab cake bites and the butter clams. The crab cake bites were so amazing, that we ordered a second round - as an appetizer, there were only three, but they were full of crab, not filler. We dove into the butter clams and the broth, crostini and clams were equally amazing. Our server, Jaimie, was more than friendly. She was charming and thoughtful; people who are intentionally kind to the elderly are special. The only sad thing is that we live in Colorado and not in Virginia Beach where we could dine here regularly.

My experience:

Food: I had a chance to try their Special which was a short rib hash, and an appetizer of risotto bites. I think the texture on the hash was a little softer then I would've liked and i believe the short ribs were dry if eaten by themselves, the portioning for the risotto was also little low (had like 5 little balls), overall though I loved the combination of flavors and enjoyed the meal a lot! Would definitely come again! (4.75/5)

Service: I had the bar Service, they were really attentive, yet allowed me to enjoy my food without being barbarded, great service overall! (5/5)

Atmosphere: Really cozy feel with a TV of the games and a beautiful home comfort feel, although I do think the seats could be a little more comfortable, overall though very cozy! (5/5)

Drinks: Wasn't in a drinking mood but the seem to have a nice collection of drinks! (N/A)

We live right around the corner and the rustic spoon has changed into one of our favorite spots. Their specials/seasonal menu is always a treat. Can't wait to see this place continue to flourish!

We always have an amazing time.... Food is great and the service is always awesome... Alyssa was our server.... Always there when you needed her....she was super kind and suggestive.....great job all the way around
