Stayed at the hotel where this is located. Apparently the phones don't work. So you cannot call down ahead from your room for food, or info. The staff was incredibly delightful!! Very happy and chatty with visitors and guests. The menu is limited (expected for a beach/hotel restaurant). Honestly, only got a few cocktails from the bar when there in person, never got any food. But the staff I interacted with was great!! Being off season we were there for a soccer tournament....so there wasn't much atmosphere to be had.

I hate giving 1 star reviews. This was just terrible unfortunately. They got my brothers food wrong, and almost took 30 mins to get out. My sister ordered mac n cheese and it took 3 tries to get it hot, it was always cold when it came out. Also to mention, my sister and my brother asked for sweet tea and they give us unsweetened that tastes like water. Do not go here if you like cold food.

Buyer Beware!!! The online menu *IS NOT* what they serve!!! Nothing online is even adaptable to what they serve. Drinks took forever to be delivered. Nothing we wanted was what what was actually offered. Homemade chips not available even though it's offered as a side. Mac and cheese... Kraft from a box. Food came out hot and decent. Will NOT go back.

Had a great experience here while staying at the hotel. We chose it because kids get to eat free. We dined here 3 times during our stay and we loved the food and the service. We had fish & chips, burger, flatbread, crab cake sammie, ice cream, lava cake, kids Uncrustables, kids pizza, kids tenders & fries, and kids burger sliders and fries. Kids loved the fries. We ate out on the patio everytime and enjoyed it.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn and dined at the Square Whale on three separate occasions while we were there.

Every time, the service was very good. The tables were clean and we were able to sit on the patio looking out at the water.

The kids loved the “build a bowl” and had good things to say. I got the taco flight and it was very good, but the hallmark of their menu really is in the flatbreads - do not skip these gems.

The Pesto, mozzarella, tomato and balsamic rivals any upscale flatbread I’ve ever had. The rest of our party also enjoyed the flatbreads and I’m certain we ordered them all, at one point or another and every time they were excellent. Large enough to fill up a hungry man, or for two light eaters to share.

Its great it you are staying at the hotel. If I came here as a destination place to eat, I would be very disappointed. Good
Not bad. But don't make a special trip unless you are walking the boardwalk and want a drink.

Kind waitress. Dirty tables, virtually no menu. We sat down and ordered one mixed drink and 5 sodas, wiped down the chairs ourselves. Decided not to stay due to lack of food options. Our bill was $50.

Great view of the ocean. Flatbreads are fantastic. Sami provided the best wait service of my entire trip to Virginia Beach. Extremely attentive and accommodating.

Just Don't do it. Waited forever for the food to come out even though there was only one other table. When the food finally came out it was all cold! The other table who ordered after us actually got their food first. Out of 3 meals all were cold. It was so bad. Waitress never even came to check on refills until we were done and I had given my daughter my drink because she was thirsty and the waitress was no where to be found. But I did see the cook casually in the kitchen eating. Again, just don't do it.

Typical poolside food, not great but not terrible. My kids liked the chicken strips. They don't bring it out to you or text you when it's ready.

Waitress barly spoke English but was overworked and did her best in a full place. while the other three staff stood at the bar. Food was garbage. Rubber under cooked calamari. Frozen over cooked fish. Under cooked waffle fry. We were unable to eat anything. Beer was good. Went to another place that was ok.
