Tortugas Café & Tiki Bar

This places is terrible. Poor customer service. Rude bartenders and waiter. Most unfriendly staff ever. Someone needs to take a look.

We enjoyed sitting in the sun and eating the quesadillas and crab dip and chips. Really good!

Stopped here for some beach day drinks but ended up walking out before ordering because we were ignored.

When we arrived, there were some folks at the bar and some tables of folks, but there were also quite a few empty tables so overall it was not that busy for such a nice day.

We stood near the entrance for a minute, but no one acknowledged us. We asked about a table and were told to seat ourselves, so we did.

We waited.

We watched servers tend to other tables. Finally, one server said someone was bringing over menus right now. A minute or so later a server walks right past us and our table to deliver 2 menus to the table of another couple who had just arrived (to be clear: this table arrived well after us - they were still sitting down when the server scurried over to them). I assume there must have been some mistake or miscommunication, so we continue to wait.

Finally, the first server we spoke to apparently realizes we still have no menus, no nothing, so she brings over 2 menus straight from another table that she had just tended to and puts them on our table without saying anything and then walks away.

We look at the menu, make our choices, and then we're waiting again.

And waiting.

And waiting.

All the while, we see the servers going to and taking care of other tables. In fact, I noticed they were busying themselves with all of the other tables - all of them, that is, except our table and one other.

That's when I realized that our table and the other seemingly-neglected table had something in common: we were the only tables/parties that included non-white folks. Isn't that an interesting coincidence?

When a server yet again flew past us to tend to the table that arrived after us, we were convinced that we were not actually going to get service in this establishment and we walked out.

No staff acknowledged us on the way out either, which is just as well.

I won't be going back and will be discouraging others from patronizing here too.

This was one of the worst bar/ pub experiences of all time. Drinks overpriced and the taste was awful. Could not drink the monitor I started with tried a signature drink that I don't believe that any who worked there knew how to make and it was terrible. The wings were chicken nuggets and were still frozen. Terrible experience and way overpriced...what a shame such opportunity to be great and it literally ruined my day

Nice atmosphere but go across to lager heads for the better food. Tortugas serves very bad and expensive pool food

Great open- air seating. The staff was very friendly and priced reasonably. The food was excellent as well. They had a very vacation atmosphere.

Went for lunch with 8 people. I had the chicken nachos. They came out cold and tasteless. The other meals were all lackluster at best per the others. Had a 12 oz coors light in a can, $8 for coors light, no glass. It is EXPENSIVE, understaffed, and serving very poor quality food. Will never go here again.

Well, this was our first encounter with a completely incompetent wait staff while in Virginia Beach. We came down to the Tiki Bar for a quick Pina Colada and some Nachos. We ordered our drinks at the bar, pretty sure the bartender had no idea how to make a Pina Colada because whatever we got was NOT a Pina Colada. The waitress came over, dropped off a menu, and said she'd be back. We played an entire game of cribbage (15-20 mins), and never saw the waitress again so we didn't get to order food. The music was so loud and obnoxious that we couldn't have taken it much longer anyway. Completely disappointed in the service, the noise level, and the drink. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who is trying to have a nice vacation.

The live music was great, I wish I had gotten his name to share on this review.
The fire feature at our table really helped keep us warm with the high winds we experienced.
Did not order food so I can't give a review. I did see many people eating and all the dishes I saw looked very good.

Got the 3 fish taco dinner and was very disappointed. The amount of fish was so small you could barely smell it. Looked like they took a small piece of fried fish and cut it into very small strips to put on 3 tacos. 2 drinks and two taco dinners, was $76. CRAZY!!

Nice tiki bar. Delicious nachos, perfect for a snack
