Waterman's Surfside Grille

We didn’t really enjoy any of the food, although the service was excellent. We were disappointed with the flavoring, especially the shrimp, it tasted like it had been steamed plain and then sprinkled with seasoning afterward, so it didn’t have much flavor unless it had a bit of Old Bay sitting on it. The crabbie fries also had an odd taste.

We were especially let down after waiting over an hour for a table, only to find that the food didn’t meet our expectations.

I had the best time at this place it was so versatile you could eat outside or inside the staff was very polite the service was quick and the food was to die for if you love seafood there are some some options also that you can get

Our food and dessert were good, and our service was great. The valet parking service was convenient as parking in the area can be complicated. We experienced a very short wait and then were greeted immediately by our server. Our food was delivered promptly, and our drinks were never empty. I would recommend to people coming to the area. Good experience with very knowledgeable staff who answered all questions about the menu.

All around good experience. Food is solid and reasonably priced for a boardwalk restaurant. Gets busy and doesn’t take reservations but no wait for a table inside. Will definitely make another stop next trip to VB

My wife and I visited this restaurant on Saturday, and while the food and our server were excellent, the experience with the front staff/manager was extremely disappointing.

When we first arrived, we were told it would be a 30-minute wait. No problem — the restaurant was packed, so we were patient. After about 30 minutes, we received a text saying our table was ready. But when we went up, they told us we had “taken too long” and skipped our turn — even though we had been sitting right next to the booth the whole time. The host said he would put us next in line, which sounded fine, but then the system sent us another text saying we were no longer on the waitlist.

When I asked the manager, he said it just looked that way because we had been “resubmitted.” After another 15 minutes, the same thing happened — another text saying we were no longer on the waitlist. I went back to the manager again, and he shrugged it off, saying the system must have kicked us out and that he was going to put other people ahead of us. At that point, it took my wife directly confronting him and saying she would stand at the booth until we were seated for us to finally get a table.

There was no sense of urgency, no apology that felt sincere, and no effort to fix the situation properly. The lack of concern from the manager completely soured the experience.

The food was great. The waitstaff was great. But the way the host/manager handled our reservation was terrible, and honestly, it overshadowed everything else.
