YamaChen's Sushi

Would be 5 stars if they had a kids menu. The food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to go on a date or out with friends. But it was hard to find something for my 8 yr old. Still I would recommend it to anyone who likes Japanese cuisine.

Kid-friendliness: No kids menu, so it's a little harder to get food for smaller kids.

Food good, service by Mediocrites. Got our food, and until the bill came, that was the last I saw of our waitress. Lol

I rarely review, but felt compelled to send compliments to this restaurant. Great atmosphere, food and service. This is my third visit and the experience has been consistent. I am a nigiri guy and chef’s choice is great fish (not egg and three salmon pieces…).
Give this place a try!

We were greeted promptly by a very friendly and professional hostess. Our food was excellent. Service was great and the food was delicious. The prices were a great value for families

Kid-friendliness: Excellent kids options. Ramune is a popular beverage for kids and is available. Staff offers kids chop sticks.

Truly the best sushi restaurant in VB. I can’t express enough how amazing this place is. Great atmosphere from the decor to the chopsticks. Great spring rolls too!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here! The sushi was terrific and the presentation and service were top notch. I had the Yama roll that has real crab meat and it was delicious. We tried several different specialty rolls and they were all fabulous. The decor is nicely done and clean. Our waitress brought us a slice of cheesecake on the house after our meal. It was my daughter’s birthday, but we hadn’t said anything, and she loved the extra treat! I would love to come back for more!

Stopped here for sushi. It is a beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. From the spring rolls to dessert (cheesecake). Will definitely return.

The place is absolutely adorable. Very family friendly. (My 5 and 3 year olds loved the fire chicken!) And they even threw in a plate of complimentary spring rolls and cheesecake. Absolutely loved our experience here.

Great food and service, I was very pleasantly surprised. The takoyaki was awesome, and we loved every bite between all the billion dishes we ordered - Philly/king crab/super California rolls, chicken teriyaki, and edamame. Not to mention 8 bucks for a Philly roll that was absolutely MASSIVE just can't be beat. The food along with a larger-than-usual selection of sake makes this place a definite winner, we will most certainly be back!

We got the king crab roll, super California roll, Philadelphia roll, teriyaki chicken, and edamame. Everything was fantastic! I went for the sushi, but the chicken teriyaki ended up blowing me away. It had such a good flavor! On top of the great food, they gave us awesome service and even some complimentary spring rolls and cheesecake. The only thing I didn't like was a pretty intense sewage smell in the restaurant. I'm not sure why it was happening, but the place was very clean, so I stayed to eat any way. Boy am I glad I did! Best place I've eaten in Virginia Beach in a while.
