7 Mares Mexican Grill

Coming from NJ we have a lot of options for Mexican and Latino food. 7 Mares is better. While in Williamsburg we wanted to try local restaurants near our hotel and decided to try this after reading the reviews. 7 Mares did not disappoint one bit. The food tasted great. I got the Alcapolco Fajitas(Seafood).the amount of scallops and shrimp I got was ridiculous. They were full size scallops and large shrimp. I asked the waiter if this was the double and he said it was only the single. He said the double was much larger. I couldn’t imagine as my dish could feed at the least 2 people. My wife got the tilapia dish which also was topped with shrimp. Both our dishes were very tasty and the prices were great for what we got. Everything seemed fresh. Even the complimentary chips they gave us were great with the two dipping sauces. This place even though was crowded I’m surprised there was not a line out the door with people waiting. This could be one of the best value in Mexican Restaurants in the county. The staff were very friendly and quick. If we comeback to Williamsburg this is a place we’d go to again.

Our go to Mexican place as we are locals. The food is always excellent. The Texas fajitas for two are highly recommended. The staff is courteous and quick.

We went here on a recommendation from a staff member at our hotel. We were extremely impressed with the food and the service. Both my wife and I enjoyed authentic Mexican dishes. Our server was extremely friendly and even joyful with the children. We highly recommend visiting here and will definitely be back on our next visit to Williamsburg.

Delicious meal at a very reasonable price!! Salsa accompanying chips was bright and fresh tasting. For a dinner drink try the Sangrita margarita.

I would prefer the fajita soft shells be served in a covered plate vs foil.

Chef Boyardee is up in this kitchen serving ravioli sauce to the good people of Williamsburg. Unfortunately, it is advertised as a Mexican restaurant. I can't believe it.

To start, seating was quick, which we appreciated. Our waiter was okay, not particularly friendly, but efficient enough. We received chips and salsa shortly after sitting down, but the salsa was ice cold, actually frozen in the middle, definitely not fresh, and that set the tone for the rest of the meal. One of our friends ordered the birria tacos, and they looked nothing like the picture and unlike any birria tacos we’ve had before. They looked dry, and the consommé was so thick it resembled a sauce more than a broth. When our friend politely let the second server know that he and his daughter didn’t like the tacos and asked to order something else, the response was shockingly rude. The server was visibly irritated and even slammed the plate down on another table a completely unnecessary and unprofessional reaction. That said, the rest of our meals weren’t bad. The fajitas were good, and the beans and rice were on point. Honestly, if it weren’t for the rude service, we could have overlooked the inconsistencies in the food. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled left a bad impression, and we won’t be returning.

What a great place! Food was hot, the chips and salsa were fresh, service was excellent. Generous portions of food, mom couldn't finish her lunch, there was so much. And it was within walking distance of our hotel. The place was not tiny, but not huge. We went around 12-12:30 and there were a few people, so not overly crowded which was nice. Would definitely go back again next time I'm in the area.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. This was the best, most affordable, biggest portioned menu I've seen in a long time. Everything on the menu looked so good, but I could only pick one because I'm from out of town. This is definitely a dinner requirement next time I'm in town!
