Never miss a chance to dine at Fat Canary. Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Amazing corn soup. Scallops and Chicken entrees were as good as it gets. Servers Philip and Keith made us feel at home and treated us like family. End the meal with Watermelon, Peach and Melon sorbet. Can not even describe how fresh and delicious. If you are planning to be in the Williamsburg area, make reservations as soon as possible. Not easy to get in here, but definitely worth the effort. Dont miss it.
Ordered grouper topped with crabmeat ( special for the night) and it was dry, so overcooked!
Fat Canary is one of our favorite places to celebrate! Food and drink are outstanding. And Philip was an excellent server!
We were celebrating our 51st Anniversary and while a printed keepsake menu with server autographs was a nice touch, a complimentary desert would have probably been appreciated a bit more (particularly when the restaurant adds a 3.5% surcharge for kitchen and service staff). My husband and I both enjoyed our meals... he had the special- halibut, shrimp, potatoes, green beans, tomatoes in a well seasoned broth; I had the scallops over polenta with fennel and kale. Dessert was a delicious chocolate mousse cake with shortbread and cranberry sauce. All in all a nice experience and recommended to anyone looking for a good meal in Williamsburg.
Casual but upscale atmosphere. Very good service. Excellent appetizer, entree, dessert and drink selection. Entree piping hot when served. Gluten free chocolate torte was very good. Wonderful experience.
What a great team! - they responded quickly to multiple messages via OpenTable messaging and graciously accommodated our requests. The food and service were fantastic. Excellent wine selection.
Celebrated a birthday and they helped make it very special. Excellent service, fun cocktails and wonderful meals
Our 25 Wedding Anniversary meal at Fat Canary was PERFECT. The food was amazing. My husband loved the mozzarella/ham/tomato salad and duck breast. I enjoyed the rarity of tempura tuna tartare without it being too spicy, as well as a scrumptious and tender beef short rib dinner. I always think of short ribs as "too much," but these pieces were just right. Our server, Chelsea, was attentive and professional. . The wine sommelier was a joy! We brought a bottle of very serious French wine from the year 2000 and he knew just how to treat it! We will definitely be back! Thanks so much...
Excellent as always. Our server Chelsea was excellent. The food was cooked to perfection and the portions were perfect. Both the halibut and tenderloin we very good as was the dessert-the ginger cake. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and added to the ambience. We will definitely return again.
The Fat Canary demonstrates an impressive balance of hospitality, culinary technique, and guest-centric service. From the warm, personal welcome to the creative and well-executed menu, the entire experience felt polished and thoughtful. It's a great example of how a fine-dining restaurant can remain approachable while maintaining high standards. A few small lighting adjustments aside, it was a near-perfect evening and an inspiring visit for anyone in the restaurant industry.

This was the best meal of our vacation. The food was great and the service outstanding! Still dreaming of the halibut. Would revisit this restaurant in a heartbeat.
The scallops were good, although I would have preferred different sides. Fried oysters were tiny, but tasty. Dessert was nice. Overall, prices were a bit expensive. Service was good.
This was our first trip to Fat Canary. It won't be our last. Although a small venue, the noise level was surprisingly low, so four good friends could have a quiet conversation. Next, Melissa was a superb server, present but never intrusive. Her descriptions of the meals were accurate, helpful, and almost as mouth-watering as the food itself. The support staff (water, food delivery to the table, etc.) were equally attentive without being intrusive. Finally, each of us tried a different offering...and each of us thoroughly enjoyed them. The combination of flavors, aromas, and textures—along with the meal presentations—were absolutely superb. The extensive wine list was also special. The place is expensive...but absolutely worth it. Perfect place to complement perfect friends.
It is always a treat to dine at the Fat Canary. Chef Tom and his extraordinary staff are the reason we dine there everytimr we are in Williamsburg. Extraordinary food and great wine selections.
Came back for a visit and was very pleased to see the interior freshening that has been completed. Looks great.
