I haven't been here in a while, admittedly. Discovered it by getting lost, and I enjoyed the food. Good solid breakfasts, short order style. Great service, and friendly, comfortable atmosphere. I will have to make a trip to Williamsburg area again to re-visit.

Great local place to eat while on vacation!

It's not a big chain restaurant. That's what makes it so attractive. It's your local dive place that has its own style. The staff are friendly and sociable. Parking can be hard to find, but worth the wait.

A few weeks ago, I was really hoping this would be the mom and pop I wanted it to be. It wasn't bad. The food was typical diner food. Nothing to complain about. The inside is very tight knit which was okay as well but maybe something to note for those who may be looking for more privacy or quieter/less dense atmosphere. Where the stars were lost is the service. I want to say that our server took care of us and checked on us when she could, I don't doubt for a second her ability to take care of a table technically. However, the table next to us had food go back thrice. A larger group of two adult couples and their smaller children came in within the last hour of them being open. They had visitor stickers from the historic triangle so I'm assuming they had finished up a morning there. The server was not happy (understandably, been in the industry a while myself and not a situation you wanna find yourself in when you're ready to go home). However, this industry is about care and hospitality and at the end of the day, customers are responsible for providing tipped income and continuing business. The server was uncomfortably vocal about her frustration with 1.) the children (they were all very young toddler-1st gradeish) and 2.) them being there while she could be closing up (there were still most of the tables occupied at varying stages in their meal so it's not like she's getting off as soon as we cash out anyway). She mentioned it to another guest at a nearby table that she was frustrated about them coming in within the last hour (again, understandable, but these are go-in-the-walk-in-and-scream scenarios not "go share with your guests negativity about other guests who are there for a meal and being respectful"). It was not a very friendly or welcoming tone and kind of ruins the novelty of mom and pops when you feel like you're one wrong scenario away from being an inconvenience to the staff in places that generally make you feel like family. I hope she was just having a rough day and this isn't the norm, not sure if I'll try it again, maybe later down the road we'll give it another shot.

Five Forks Cafe seemed like it would be a great little mom and pop greasy spoon. It was not. The positive: 1. Hot cakes 2. A perfect egg over-easy 3. A fabulous egg sandwich 4. Delicious sausage gravy The meh: 1. Service was friendly but not attentive 2. Biscuits tasted like Grands Frozen Biscuits The negative: 1. Hash-browns were not seasoned and definitely frozen because they were still cold in the center. 2. The corned beef hash was easily identified as canned by the tiny dehydrated potatoes and potted meat consistency. 3. Terrible coffee

Worth waiting for. The food was great. It was crowded on Sunday morning so we had a wait to get seated and served. The restaurant is small.

Stopped by to order food for my brother’s polling locations and left a lengthy order for pick-up! Everything was prepared ahead of time and we were able to pick up and distribute food to those supporting! The food that I ordered was quite tasty! I highly recommend!

Classic greasy spoon diner. Atmosphere is a little dated (which I actually like) but very clean. Breakfast is great. Get the corn cakes - they are excellent. Biscuits and gravy also very good. If you like omelettes, they are substantial! Eggs are always cooked on point. The service is top notch.
