Had a great hearty meal here when we stopped and stayed the night on our way to South Carolina. Had a great Porter on Tap that was refreshing on a brisk November night. Genuine, Old World feel. Walking through the Colonial Streets on a cold night into a warm inn with Hearty Food and good beer. Felt like time traveling
Stopped by the back outside dining area of Chowning's Tavern to grab a bite of lunch. They have a very limited menu set up for quick preparation and turnover. Meal choices of grilled chicken, hot dog or hamburger sandwiches are cooked to order and served with a side of coke slaw and bag of chips. The food was good but nothing exceptional for the premium price paid but the proceeds support the work of Colonial Williamsburg so console in that thought. The food within Chowning's...
