I have been trying to eat here for multiple days. I'm in town for work, and have had multiple people recommend this place. However, every time I go in, I am rudely greeted by employees telling me the restaurant is closed, then scrambling to shut the door, turn off lights, etc. In the middle of the afternoon. I wish I could say I got to try the food- but after being shooed out multiple afternoons in a row, I won't try again.

I have been to the restaurant a few times, all evening visits with reservations. Yesterday I took my daughters for a late lunch with no reservation and I was extremely disappointed in our service and the food. The calamari was fresh and greasier than I’ve ever experienced at this restaurant. The lemon did provide a refreshing and much needed touch of flavor. The lasagna was not warmed through, cold in spots and it was just a blob of sauces, overcooked bolognese sauce with crispy meat and noodles that lost their integrity and layers. The drinks were fantastic but the 3 main dishes we ordered did not seem to be prepared or served with any care. The service was not attentive for being so slow. Upon placing the order our server asked if we wanted the kids meal early and we said yes, it was served AFTER all of the other food and the meat was cold and the bun to the burger was rock solid. Again, so disappointed and embarrassed I took my family. My family said the bread and oils served was the best part of our meal.

So my husband and I always order dessert first. The bread, butter, Olive oil, and chili oil came first. Like any red-blooded American, we ate the bread first. The bread is my 1st food recommendation. He ordered tiramisu - they were out - so he ordered chocolate cake. I ordered Limoncello cake. They were just cake. I ordered the Kiss of Lemon Mule (alcohol) DELICIOUS. That is my last food recommendation. He ordered eggplant Parm with no tomato sauce, he wanted Alfredo sauce or even no sauce. Waitress said the eggplant Parm is PREMIXED with tomato sauce ?? This is clearly not the gourmet restaurant they want you believe it to be. He ordered the chicken salad - it was decent, but the balsamic vinaigrette was very thick; I imagine it came premixed, too. He used the leftover olive oil from the bread. I ordered Mac and cheese with green beans. The beans were seasoned nicely but dry. I added some leftover butter from the bread. The Mac and cheese was heaped in a stainless steel bowl - very dry on top; the cheese sauce settled to the bottom. I dumped it out onto my plate. I believe they gave me an entire box of noodles. All in all, the food was very Costco-like. Costco, however, would not have cost $72 for that meal. We talked ourselves out of going to Mellow Mushroom - please, reader, don't make the same mistake. I DO NOT recommend La Piazza.Vegetarian options: I believe they had 3 vegetarian options. Mac and cheese, buttered noodles, and salad. All adult portions.Parking: Once Google Maps takes you into the parking lot, be advised that you will not see the restaurant from the parking lot. The restaurant is on the opposite side of the parking lot from Baskin Robbins, through the walkway and to the left. It shares the same entrance as the Tea Store.

Location and quality food. I have to say the lasagna is best in town and in Virginia from my experience. It was enough to feed a small army. The decor is modern and the would recommend to anyone visiting the burg. There is so many itialian restaurants but this one imo stands out.

Probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Food was a disappointing experience, pasta came with absolutely no sauce. We were told linguine was a $3 extra charge and it ended up being $6 with no acknowledgement of the mistake, or even trying to make it right. We caught it only after paying the bill where we were told it is what it is. We were offered complimentary bread only after we had eaten an appetizer. Just a poor experience and would only recommend it for the drinks.

The food was pretty good. Portions were very large. The Italian sodas and strawberry limeade were great.

The food isn’t worth the long wait time. Don’t ask for your hamburger to be “well done”…You will get served with a hockey puck.

Ate here once and then tried to go again and got turned away even though posted hours outside the restaurant stated that it was open. The attitude of the hostess aside, this is a three star experience. Long waits for food, friendly service, and lots of crying babies. It’s a decent option in Merchants Square at Williamsburg, but not the best.

We had an exceptional experience tonight at La Piazza. The food was GREAT and the desserts we ordered were the best. Will A. was our server and he provided the best service to our family. The manager (Ann) was also extremely helpful when I contacted her a week or two ago to help with our reservation, as this was a special family celebration for the three of us. The next time we travel to Colonial Williamsburg, we will definitely have dinner here again. They’ve raised the bar high on service and food. We couldn’t recommend this restaurant more!
