absolutely LOVED the bratwurst and potato salad i had for lunch. i’ve been coming here every year and they NEVER disappoint. the staff is friendly and accommodating. 1000% recommend and don’t forget to grab a tasty lemon bar for dessert. thank you magnolia crew!

The food was fun and absolutely delicious! The brie sandwich is one of the best I've had. And sweet potato salad? I never would have thought of that - so good! I make sure to come here every time I'm in town.

The Dale House cafe gets 5 stars from me, but this review is to praise Magnolia's catering! I ordered ahead and picked up a meal for a post-HS graduation lunch at home. The food was excellent and just what I ordered, it was all packed up and ready to go, the chicken BBQ was hot and yummy, the potato salad was awesome and so much better than the stuff you can buy premade at the store, the fruit salad was chill and exactly what I wanted. Melissa and her staff are so accommodating and the food is so good and well priced. Thanks so much for helping to make our family grad day meal so nice.

Pretty disappointing that you have to pay admission through the museum to even have access to the restaurant. We visited the Jamestown settlement up the road, and were looking for a less crowded place to eat. We were told that we would have to buy a ticket to the museum just to get back there…makes no sense
This cafe is set in the park(paid access). It's on the river, with a nice view an offers outside seating. It has sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. The sandwich choices are few, with daily specials. We split the turkey ruben one of the specials. It could've been a good sandwich if they upgraded the quality of the lunchmeat, added a little more dressing but, mostly if it was cooked longer to melt the cheese. We were hungry so it filled the void. Will we return? For a drink, yes, to eat no.
Excellent Food.... excellent. Definitely above average quality & very reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly, and there's ample seating right on the water. It's a real treat to have a place this nice little of the park. Usually get overpriced touristy places with junk, definitely not the case here. Highly recommended

I got the spring wrap and it was delicious! I garbanzo beans were still firm enough that they weren’t much but not crunchy, and the overall taste of the wrap was fresh and really yummy. Others in my group got the bratwurst, pulled pork sandwich, and some of the baked goods, they said that was all very good too. One of the best parts of this restaurant is that it overlooks the river so you can watch the ferry boats pass each other or just enjoy the water while you eat. They have a patio but it was too cold and windy for us to use it that day.

The ladies at the counter were great as was the food and the beautiful view. Great potato salad, we bought seconds, and wonderful barbecue sausage sub. Topped it off with delicious lemon raspberry cake
No parking at the restaurant- park 1/2 mile away and walk to the riverside restaurant- sandwiches and beer are available- indoor and outdoor seating- call your order by number when ready
The Dale House Cafe (run by Magnolia @ Dale House since 2020) has the best dining view of the James River for miles around! Delicious and creative menu offerings that change frequently with seasonal/daily specials and amazing desserts! Friendliest staff, love Magnolia @ Dale House!
Vegetarian options: Always good vegetarian options on the menu!
Parking: * Important* - There is no parking at the Cafe, you must park in the main lot and walk across the footbridge in back of the Visitor Center. You must have a ticket or local pass. It is worth the walk!
Magnolia cafe’s food is so delicious. The menu is always just so creative and the owner Melissa is so sweet! She will always go out of her way to help her customers! Definitely recommend visiting. 100/10
Wonderful experience, delicious food, and great service! Would recommend to anyone, definitely made my whole Jamestown visit!
