One of the many Pancake places in the Williamsburg area. Can tell this one had been around a while.

We were greeted at the door and seated immediately, and that was the last contact we had with anyone there. No one came to see if we wanted coffee or to order. There were maybe 5 other tables with customers. There seemed to be plenty of waitstaff (counted 4 or 5). After 15-20 minutes of being ignored, we left and went elsewhere.
Mama Steve’s is a classic, old-school southern pancake house. There’s a nice posh white interior and old styles furniture, which really fits the ambiance well. As for the food, I ordered the old fashioned buttermilk pancakes. The pancakes tasted great and came with some delicious blueberry syrup. The waitress was also friendly and the service was fast. I highly recommend dining here for a classic pancake house experience.

Food was bad. Blueberry pancakes tasted like cardboard. Service was harried and unfriendly. The worst - the syrup dispensers were nasty…not just on our table but all the tables. Take a few more minutes to clean the condiments. And SMILE!

Every member of the staff we spoke to was welcoming and friendly. The food was pretty expensive and the coffee was weak, we probably won’t be back.

This place is atrocious... pancakes tasted like they were from the freezer, no flavor, so dry... bacon was burnt. Kids didnt even eat the pancakes. We had to drench them with syrup. Everything was ala carte as well. 7 dollars for 3 pieces of sausage. 70$ for crappy pancakes and mediocre service. Also, the hostess has an attitude and gave us a dirty highchair with food in the seat.

Stopped in for breakfast today. Had blueberry pancakes, food is good service was good. No butter for the pancakes only vegetable spread. I thought that was odd.
If you ever have a waitress name Betty please ask for another waitress. She is nasty, rude and you cannot read her ticket. She really should retire. You have a person who is miserable serving people. I will not return.

Probably wouldn’t go back. But eating here is like stepping back in time. I don’t think anything has changed in 50 years. The food was ok, the service was fine. Waitresses were kind and helpful. They need to update.

Our waitress Lenora was one of, if not the kindest waitress that I have ever had in a restaurant. She was very welcoming and made the place feel very homely. The blueberry syrup is such a great addition to the pancakes. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich is very delicious and is definitely my favorite item on the menu. Wasn’t too busy when we arrived unlike the other pancake places. Definitely recommend for a spot to eat when you are leaving or coming in for vacation.
