Dena was wonderful. Best breakfast anywhere!

Part time restaurant hiding within a quaint Mexican restaurant. A wide open space with 4-seat tables arranged throughout the open floor plan and booths near the windows. The service is quick and the food is pretty good, I would eat here again. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, and toast. Their coffee does not taste burned and that's always a plus. The other plates had a meat omelette and a veggie omelette. There is an option for white, wheat, and rye bread for toast options. The bathroom is very clean. Prices are comparable to other diners within a 2-mile radius. Each place has their own 'better' something that only you would be able to taste to your liking.

This restaurant is now called Paisanos, but it still has great pancakes and a full breakfast menu. My kids loved it; we had breakfast here twice on our 4 night trip.

We found this place by accident. Please give it a try! Great food and such friendly staff!!! The sign doesn’t say “National pancakes”. Don’t make the mistake of driving by without stopping!

We found this little place after a failed attempt at another breakfast eatery. It was unassuming because I believe it's under a change of dining intent, but the cardboard sign in the window confirmed this was the place. Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed, colorful and friendly! The restaurant is family owned, and the food is well worth every penny. The staff that we interacted with were attentive, asked how everything was, offered refills, everything you'd expect with hospitality. My boyfriend can eat a lot, and he's sitting across from me stuffed from the plantation breakfast. It's not too pricey, either! When we return to Williamsburg, this place will be on our list!!

Looks can be deceiving! The sign out front makes this place look like a Mexican restaurant however you are at the right places as it is the National Pancake and Waffle House. We walked in and the decor is unique and we were almost concerned if we chose the wrong place. Our party of 8 immediately was seated and the menu had a wide variety of items. We all ordered drinks and different dishes and they all came out hot and better than we expected. While the service was a little slow it was not bad at all and our server/waitress was very nice. It is definitely worth a visit and we are happy we stayed.

Stopping here for breakfast is the worst possible decision for anybody vacationing to the area. There was one waitress waiting on almost every table. She had to ask for help from the other servers who were chilling in the kitchen twice in the 90 minutes that we were there because she was being overrun. We had to wait almost 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered, and another 45 minutes to get our check because our waitress NEVER returned to our table. The bacon, eggs, and pancakes that I got were not good at all. The eggs were cold like they had been sitting there, the bacon was nothing but stringy fat, and the pancakes tasted like they were from Walmart’s freezer section. This was the absolute worst experience and I will never go here again. Poor quality food, poor customer service, and lax on employee work effort.

Previously had another 5-star review, but I guess you can only edit previous reviews, not add additional ones! Shame! So, this is for this year’s (2021) Vacation Visit to Williamsburg. And we come here at least twice to eat.On our first visit, as always, I got my usual: Belgian Waffle w Strawberries & Cream, and a coffee. It was quite bustling but everything came out quickly! My waffle was a bit disappointing this time! Out of 7 years, it’s never happened! The waffle itself was good but a bit RUBBERY.Today, I got the same but cocoa with cream rather than coffee. Waffle this time was DIVINE! Fluffy as heaven! And we were checked on often. :)Looking forward to seeing you again next year!!

Food was great ......once it arrived. I came right in & sat down with my daughter at 10:19. We were approached for drinks 10 mins later....and finally ordered our food around 10:30. We were one of 6 tables that had customers. 3 more came in after us, placed their order AND recieved their food while we waited patiently for eggs, bacon, and corned beef hash. .... Food arrived at 11:14. Mine looked like it has just been cooked, my daughter's however was cold. No staff member seemed to notice, or care. " tell me you forgot my order, without telling me you forgot my order."

Our table of six was not recognized at all and after 15 minutes we walked out. Restaurant was at maybe half capacity. While seated we watched 5 tables walk out due to lack of service. Food looked good but they are not prepared to handle any kind of volume. Disappointed.

The place was not busy but they were extremely slow. My french toast was very light and under cooked. Wet in the middle. Grits were good. The staff kept going to the other side to sit and not tending to the customers. Not my kind of spot. We were never given a refill. Other customers around us were also complaining about the wait time.

We've been here several trips in a row but won't be going back now. No wait to be seated but then waited twenty minutes and then left when no one came to take our drink order or even acknowledge we were there. There was no hostess to find to complain to. It wasn't very busy, just one dining room open with at least three waitresses. Insane and not how I wanted to start our day. Also, the carpet was stained and filthy.

First time I went here, the place was pretty much empty and still took a long time to get our meals. The food was pretty decent still so we decided to come back a second time. The second time however we sat for over half an hour and nobody came to check in or even give us water, they just sat us down and forgot about us.

Looks pleasant and calm on the exterior but once you enter it becomes apparent this place is a stewing turmoil of dysfunction. Not sure if they had planned operations and procedures or if they decided to wake up one day and open a restaurant. I saw the waitress twice to order our food and to deliver our food and check. After seeing her the second time I never could find her to ask for refills or a to-go box. It took approximately 50 mins to get our food after ordering. When it came time to pay for the food (which I would assume any business would take as an important task), it took a better part of 20 mins to track someone down to pay. In the meantime, five families came in and left because there was no hostess to seat them. Food looked unappealing, lacked seasoning, and when we ordered a poached egg it was hard-boiled. Not impressed at all and will not be returning.

Not sure if it was a covid issue but the service was fine for the few employees that were working, but the wait was a bit long for the small volume of guests. Chocolate chip pancackes were good. The plain buttermilk ones were just ok, the bacon a bit thin as well. Hopefully its all covid related and will get back to being a better place.
