Most authentic Japanese food we have had in years

Delicious Japanese food. This is more of a lunch spot vs. fancy dinner place. The Bento boxes are a favorite, and the prices are reasonable for what you're getting.

This place use to be the best, some odd reason they went down ! Today ( 5/20/25 ) placed an order for shrimp fried rice , received the order rice was over cooked very mushy , still white no seasoning no egg and little to no shrimp. Took it back and got a full refund 0 stars

Good place
Amazing sushi!
Phenomenal.
The sashimi is fresh and the service is very good and attentive. It is a rare find to find a decent Japanese restaurant in Williamsburg. I will definitely be returning to try the lunch specials!
We have eaten at Sushiya for years but we are done. 5 minutes waiting to be sent to a table then 20+ more waiting for any service whatsoever. The one waiter had time to chat with his buddies and handle take outs, but no time for us. If you cannot staff the place properly it should not be open.

I live nearby and have gone here many times. This restaurant used to be great, but their management has been running it into the ground the last few years.
- service is always slow. Like, REAL slow. They never seem to have more than one server.
- in the summer they don’t run the air conditioner enough; uncomfortably hot
- I don’t even know why they have a phone, it’s ALWAYS off the hook/busy… I don’t even know how people are placing take out orders
- they close much earlier than their posted hours (like 8 they start pressuring you to leave and not seating people)
- honestly, I don’t know what his deal is but the guy that hosts (black long hair usually pulled back) has gotten progressively more surly.

The sushi was below par in flavor and size. We were also disappointed with the fried rice and will not return. The restaurant looked nice enough and service was good.

Was told by host I already did last call at 8:00 pm then asked if we wanted to do something to go. Not coming back
