The music was much TOO LOUD!!! We were in the garden room and screaming to hear each other!!! Please, please, please turn down the volume!!! We enjoyed our dinner when the musicians took breaks!!

This was my first time at Sweet Tea and Barley. My sister and I met there with our husbands. It took us an hour to get there each and it was well worth it. The place was beautiful. The staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. We've decided we are going to make this a yearly meeting place.

Had lunch here with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. The service was relaxed but impeccable, the food served hot and delicious, and the quiet, elegant setting was perfect for conversation. We'll definitely be back!

It's part of a hotel. The hostess was not friendly at all, but our waitress was kind. We tried the burgers and fries and they were delicious. Ambiance is not amazing, but it was decent for a quick lunch.

Overall very good experience. Table was available on time. Server was pleasant and prompt. Food was overall excellent with one notable exception. The tri-colored cauliflower was beyond chewy and not pleasant at all. Would not get the vegetarian salad based on that although the chef agreed and will hopefully make corrections.

The fried pickles were good but a bit too salty. I had the grain dish with the Jackfruit and few elements of that dish were on the salty side too. But it was a good dish overall. Good waitress and the waiter sat us close to the keyboard player. The music in the lounge starting at 6 added to the ambience of the place. Of course it has a good colonial feel to it. For vegetarians the place had some good options

This restaurant needs to train their staff on Virginia ABC laws. It's 2 days before Christmas, and my husband and I are staying at the Williamsburg Inn next door with our 5 month old.
We were hungry and wanted to go somewhere walking distance. Sweet Tea & Barley had no tables available, which is totally understandable right before Christmas, so we found a spot at the bar and sat down. We were promptly kicked out because they said "Virginia laws don't allow underage kids at the bar". I informed them this is absolutely false and my husband runs/owns a bar and restaurant and we follow ABC laws to the T. Then she said it was a bar policy, which seemed weird since she told us it was a state law first, and the hostess saw we had a baby and said we could find a spot at the bar. Either way, maybe I should ask ABC to call and get them up to speed on actual ABC laws for Virginia. My 5 month old in his baby Bjorn wasn't bothering anyone or breaking any laws.

Kid-friendliness: Not Kid friendly!

We had an amazing time at this eating establishment! Truly, because of our waitress Chris. She made the whole evening really special and was so attentive to our needs. She alone deserves 5+ stars. My only atmosphere wish was that there was Christmas music playing for the season, esp since it’s already a bit noisy. Overall all though, the food and service were wonderful - I was pleasantly surprised!

Came here last Saturday night. We had reservations for 4pm not realizing dinner started at 5. We decided to wait and have drinks. Glad we did. The prime rib special was amazing so worth the wait. Def recommend. The restaurant itself was a bit cold and breezy. If you're going in the winter wear something warm.

Poor customer service. Overpriced even for Williamsburg. Understaffed for special events.

My wife and I went for the first time tonight. Loved the jazz music playing live- a little loud but ok. Food was great! My wife had the North Carolina BBQ and she moved it. I had the chicken sandwich, so tasty! Chris was our server and she did a great job!

Prices are not accurate to menu, manager was extremely rude and did nothing to fix the price. The menu said $19 and the “actual” price was $30, manager claimed the price is how it is, then proceeded to be sarcastic and ask how the food was.
