This is a quiet, cozy, family owned restaurant. The decor is beautiful and rustic and you can entertain yourself just looking at the walls while you wait for your food, not that the wait time for food is long at all. A good place for nourishing, hearty meals that feel like real food, which can be difficult to find when you're on vacation! The free bread on the tables is so good. The staff are very mindful of food allergies. Every time we drive to Williamsburg we eat here on the first night because it's such a nice place to relax and refuel after a long car ride.

This has become a favorite spot to eat whenever I get to Williamsburg; about once a year. The food is always good (love the peanut soup), the wait staff and owner are very open, friendly and welcoming. We always feel at home when we dine here.

We had hoped to enjoy our meal, but unfortunately, the quality of the meat was unsatisfactory and did not justify the cost. We spent $230 on three adult meals and one children's meal, and the children's meal was particularly disappointing. My steak was tough and unappetizing. I love the atmosphere and service.

I don’t understand how this restaurant has 5 stars and good reviews. My sister, her husband, my husband and I were there last Friday. The food was HORRIBLE!! And we are not picky and commonly will find something good but everything was awful including the salad! I had the fried chicken and ribs, the chicken was so tiny with no meat on it, and the ribs were mainly all gristle.

My wife and I had high expectations for this place, but our hopes were immediately dashed the second we entered the restaurant. It was 5:30 and the place was empty. It smelled old and looked like it was stuck in a 1980's time warp. After closer inspection the dining room could benefit from a deep clean and new furniture. Our food wasn't fit to feed a dog. Everything was either cold or luke warm. Both the ribs and chicken that I ordered tasted off; as if they pre-cooked everything ahead of time and reheated it as people ordered it. I took 2 bites of the ribs and almost threw up. They tasted like roadkill. My chicken was confusing because one piece was way over cooked dry while the other piece was almost raw and rubbery. Because I had never had peanut soup before I'm guessing that it is supposed to be served cold? I've only ever written one other restaurant review in my life and wasn't going to bother writing one for this place; rather I was just going to walk away quietly and chalk it up to my bad decision for choosing to dine here. However, as I lay here in bed feeling sick, I changed my mind. Please, Jefferson, do better. You have a great location and access to a thriving tourist trade. I wish you the best of luck, but you've lost this customer for good.

Food was first class! We had their red snapper with crab-meat stuffing, and the fried shrimp & scallops. Service always very good here.

Excellent menu and very friendly, family owned restaurant. Waitress was super friendly and made us all feel very welcome. Food was very good and I would definitely go back again.

My husband and I had dinner here last night and it was fantastic! This a family-owned spot and you can feel the pride they have for this place. Our server Brittany was wonderful and the food was delicious. And it was a great value. Half the cost of the other places we considered for dinner and just as good! The restaurant was quiet even with other guests, and as sound technicians my husband and I took notice of and appreciated the lack of noise from the busy street outside. We never felt like we had to yell to hear each other, but it was never uncomfortably quiet either. Definitely will be dining here again

Very good food and staff was amazing. Met the owner and he was great and talked to us about both history and other restaurants they own. Can't wait to try the pancake place

We first passed by this restaurant on our way to the hotel, and we immediately knew we would go to eat there. The very architecture of that little place was so inviting! And the experience did not disappoint. The waitresses dressed in the waiting staff uniforms of that time, various things, like little sculptures and drawings that portray Jefferson's time - it was very nice. Our waitress was Brittany, and her suggestions turned out exactly what we wanted to eat. The place belongs to the four generations of one family, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!
