The food was very good but it was really the staff and the environment that made the dinner experience so wonderful. If you’re looking for a charming family owned dinner original to the strip in Williamsburg for over 50 years! This is the place for you!
The staff was so warm?but the food was very unappetizing. The chicken was Sahara dry and the soda was flat. My food actually tasted like the building smelled. I hate to give it a bad review but I wouldn’t want to lose my money if I was looking for and accurate review.
We came June 28 with 4 adults and 3 kids. The food was very good and the atmosphere was cute. It’s an older restaurant with a menu that’s similar to the restaurants you find in historic Williamsburg (without the high prices). Great to bring kids if you want them to have a comparable experience. Our server was very helpful with the menu and we were very warmly greeted by the staff. Would definitely return if I’m in the area.
Slightly above average American food was
This is a place where you find locals. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The fried chicken was tasty, the red skin mashed potatoes were really good especially with the brown peppercorn sauce. Their signature peanut soup was unique and tasty. The pecan pie was just OK. The chocolate chambord cake with raspberry sauce was great.
The dining room is a little dated but the place.has a nice family atmosphere.
We are there like 25 years ago and it was great. Our meal yesterday was horrible. I think they took the day old fried chicken and refried it. It was so dried out and so dark and very small pieces. My drummer off of my wing was just slightly smaller than my husband’s chicken leg. Only one piece looked fresh. The Peanut soup was hardly warm and definitely not what it used to be. Our green beans were tasty, but as you got to the middle of the bowl they were cold, like refrigerated cold. The rolls, ( frozen kind) were ok. Not risen as they could have been you could see in some of the rolls where they had froze together and then pulled apart. My son got the 4 cheese with noodles. He’s not a picky eater. But was really not happy with his meal. The side salad was the highlight of our meal. The Italian and Blue cheese dressing were good. Our waitress Terri, was very sweet and attended us constantly. Of course there was only one of their couple in the restaurant.
Believe the bad reviews!!! I wish we had. A McDonald’s chicken sandwich would have been better fried chicken. I hate leaving a bad review, but this is well earned.
I wanted to like this restaurant so badly, and the staff were very nice and attentive. But the atmosphere and food were just not good.
The decor is insanely dated…but not in a charming way. It smelled and looked like an old dingy hotel and the chairs were falling apart (visible springs coming out of the bottom) to the point that I thought I’d fall through the seat. The art on the walls was mismatched and unappealing.
The food was prepared poorly. The meat was very dry, potato overcooked, and ribs looked like they were boiled, unseasoned, and then bottled BBQ sauce was poured on it. Ice cream sundae was two scoops of vanilla ice cream with a squirt of bottled chocolate sauce and a cherry tossed on top. The only accurate description is “cafeteria food”.
Again, the staff were very attentive, friendly, and warm. If they update the inside of the restaurant and hire a better cook, we would totally go back. Otherwise, it’s just not worth the money.
The service was excellent, very friendly and the food was fabulous. We really enjoyed the peanut soup.
Fast, friendly service, the food was excellent. Well worth your time to stop in and grab dinner.

Baked potatoes were old and dry, filet mignon was dry and overcooked, green beans were tough and tasteless, ham was dry and tough. Mashed potatoes were from a box, not homemade like the menu said. We do not recommend this restaurant.

I would call this “Casual Fine Dining”. Our meals were very good and the service excellent. The menu has something for everyone from chicken to steak to seafood to Italian. And a dessert tray to die for. Highly recommend when you visit the Williamsburg area.

Good food, but lacks choices. I wanted some other noodle beside spaghetti, but they did not have it.
