Excellent menu and very friendly, family owned restaurant. Waitress was super friendly and made us all feel very welcome. Food was very good and I would definitely go back again.

Very good food and staff was amazing. Met the owner and he was great and talked to us about both history and other restaurants they own. Can't wait to try the pancake place

We first passed by this restaurant on our way to the hotel, and we immediately knew we would go to eat there. The very architecture of that little place was so inviting! And the experience did not disappoint. The waitresses dressed in the waiting staff uniforms of that time, various things, like little sculptures and drawings that portray Jefferson's time - it was very nice. Our waitress was Brittany, and her suggestions turned out exactly what we wanted to eat. The place belongs to the four generations of one family, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

Banger restaurant. Fantastic food, and the staff were lovely. The decor is interesting, gives you much to ponder. Really enjoyed my steak.

The waitress was excellent and the food was good. They don't have sweet tea.

Wonderful restaurant! Our server Brittany was fantastic!! We ordered fried chicken and rib combo. My husband said it was delicious and seasoned well. I had seafood platter with crab cake appetizer, so creamy and hot. The meal was served w hot roll and butter. The atmosphere is very pleasant not loud at all. Nice friendly owner too! 👍 We were in town for 2 days but will return on next visit.

The decor wasn't as bad as some reviews. The copper pots are gleaming. The food wasn't good. The peanut soup and the Jefferson salad were good, but we should have stopped there. Fried chicken was way overcooked and the fish was only lukewarm.
Smashed redskined potatoes were OK, but again, only lukewarm. Would not go back.

This place is charming. The service was fun and friendly. We went in with not the highest expectations. As there were only 3 of us, we didn't get the chance to try many of the food options, but the menu offers something for everyone. Is the decor outdated? Yes. Are the copper decorations polished and gleaming? Yes. It's obvious this family owned restaurant is still run with pride. Big Greek salad was good, with a generous amount of feta. Peanut soup is...an experience. It's a little time capsule of a restaurant.

Wanted to try a new spot for our yearly trip to Williamsburg. Picked Jefferson as a taste test of peanut soup was needed. Yes, to many a turned up face, but we found it to be a real great addition to the meal. Busy but no wait, quiet enough to hear well without shouting and an excellent server, Greg, who helped guide us into a fine meal. Would, and will, return and redo that peanut soup.

Decided on Jefferson for early dinner. Wife had the 6 oz. lobster, salad and fries $39. Was quoted $119 for the 18 oz size. I had the rib/chicken combo. Sm 1/2 rack baby back ribs and not much meat on the undersized fried thigh and drumstick. Beer was reasonably priced but the LIT will set you back $19! Nice atmosphere and service.

Our service was top notch and the food was delicious with generous portions! Pork chops were tender and juicy and seafood platter was all really good! We had peanut soup for the first time too and it was creamy and yummy.

We had the best dinner at the Jefferson tonight! It was our first night in Williamsburg, and we felt so welcomed! It’s a family owned restaurant, and they made us feel like part of the family! I had the “Virginia Surf and Turf”, which was Virginia ham and a crab cake, along with a salad with (homemade!) blue cheese dressing and tomato bisque. I had to take half of my food back to the hotel, because the servings were so generous! My husband had the “Virginia Dinner”, which was a smoked ham, Surry sausages (a local food), and a grilled chicken breast, with a chutney and cornbread dressing. Again, very generous servings of delicious food! We will definitely be back and recommend them highly!

Very nice atmosphere at this restaurant We had dinner there a long time ago,23 years actually. The owner was so nice to talk too. And 23 years later the employees are just as nice. Food was great. Peanut soup is outstanding I highly recommend trying it.
