We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary at CRUSH last week. We hope to do it again every year for another 10 years because we enjoy CRUSH food, service and ambiance so much.
This place is a hidden gem in Winchester!!! The service is impeccable, the food, its quality, presentation are superb, the cocktails are normally excellent except this time the martini was a bit short. This operations is at the same level as the top notch restaurants in DC and northern Virginia, definitely the best in Winchester… the restaurants in this area should take note how refined service and food should be excited!!!! One last thing: the prices at this establishment are reasonable.
Love this very upscale
We love Crush Wine Bar! They have a great selection of food of drinks! It’s our favorite date night spot! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
The best local food in my opinion. Highly recommend the bone marrow- cooked to perfection and seasoned just enough so that you can still taste the rich flavor. The escargots, any of the steak tapas, grilled baguette, smoked cocktails, are exquisite. What I love theost is the atmosphere, definitely reminds me of my home country of France.

It was a fascinating setting. We arrived on a slow evening, the server couldn't have been nicer. But.. the food especially for the price well... sucked. The food didn't match the description of the menu. The wine menu was good. It's a casual setting and would be a very nice place for a business or after a business one on one meeting. Or a it's "just lunch (dinner)" meet and greet, but don't expect them to be impressed with the food or how long they have to wait for the room temperature burnt cauliflower.
Kid-friendliness: No I don't think so.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Recommended dishes: Escargot, Brussels Sprouts, In Pinot Grigio, Garlic Shrimp
Brilliantly unique dish concepts. Minor executional tweaks would make it perfect.
• Patatas braves with garlic aoli elevated by creamy aoli but could benefit from more crisp i.e. from beef fat frying.
• Beef tataki with ponzu sauce was a standout, sweet savory balanced flavor, dreamily tender beef.
• Duck confit blackberry gastrique had sugar-dusted walnuts. Melded well with gaminess of duck but could benefit from more balsamic vinegar acidity for balance. A bit syrupy sweet, pulled duck a bit dry at spots. Accompanying toasted cracker thins was a nice touch though bread would be better for soaking up sauce.
• Demi baguette comes pre-oiled.
• Toasted almond cream cake a true standout with amaretto milk mixture, marscarpone cream, tender vanilla cake, toasted almond and streusel topping. Fabulous.
Exquisite interior decor, Oxford vintage artsy feel. Lounge area, high tops. Wonderful friendly staff, shoutout to Tetiana for going the extra mile to make us feel welcomed. Gem of a restaurant, close to perfect polish.

Perfect Anniversary date night. Drinks were delicious, the mushrooms were fantastic, the pork belly is a must, and the desserts were sweet, but nit overpowerplateeven though they are tapas, for 2 people 4- 5 dishes is plenty.

If you have a lot of time and patience for dinner then this place is for you.
This was a very special day for my husband and I. I was really looking forward to it but sadly it was nothing but a disappointment. When we arrived there it was great. Once we ordered and our sever came back around to check on us it was like she just met us even though she just waited on us. It was nothing more than a disappointment for us. We only order two tapas entry and wanted nothing more than to eat more food but it was taking too long so we decided to leave. I was going to leave hungry and so was my husband. When we told our server that we wanted to pay and leave I didn’t expect too get into an argument with her later about her having our credit card. Wow, what a huge disappointment! This was my final straw! I believe the owner was still there. But the argument didn’t reflect our bill. We still paid full price for bad service. Sadly we were still hungry and my husband asked if we could stop at Sheets and get something to eat . That made me feel horrible. Again, like I was saying, this was a very special night for us…. How wrong I was to expect such great service and a great experience out of this place. Instead, our server wanted to just argue with us about the bill and not serve us great food that Crush offers.

My daughter, her girlfriend & I went tonight for gf's bday...we all were beyond pleased!!!! The food was off the charts, the service was intimate & friendly, the atmosphere was so pleasant with great music choices.
We had both flatbreads- Margherita & brie, both filet dishes - crabmeat & blue cheese plus the honey shrimp ... omg.!!! Everything was done to perfection...????

Buckle up your boots, folks, because you’re in for a wild ride here!
Imagine this: you walk into a delightful atmosphere with great music, low lighting, comfy chairs – only to be met with an elitist, condescending waitress who was nothing short of insulting to our party of six on a Wednesday night. All of us corporate executives visiting Winchester for an off-site management meeting, we heard that the food at Crush was great.
Well, that is true. The food was exceptional, and our hats off to the chef.
If only the front-of-house could get their superiority complex out of the way, it would have been an otherwise enjoyable experience. We all searched our collective memories and the scene around us to try to identify why, oh, why we perhaps were singled out to be looked down upon. We looked around the room. Perhaps we weren’t dressed well enough? Nope, the clientele was largely casually dressed – we were in business casual clothing. Perhaps we weren’t in some elusive “in crowd” in this strip mall on the outskirts of this charming little town set in the Shenandoah Valley? Not sure, but we wanted to investigate further. Perhaps the waitress was in an altered state? We might be getting somewhere because we racked our brains for some acceptable excuse for being ridiculed as “people in Winchester” who “don’t know how to eat.” Literally. She said that to us.
Now, at the table were several folks with MBAs; all well-traveled; one of whom hails from Portugal – where they may know a little bit more about tapas than, say, folks in rural-ish Virginia; two from New England – not that these characteristics or origins qualify us to be treated with anything other than, say, civility. Because our money spends just as well as any other person who comes expecting to be treated with a modicum of respect.
We were also schooled in, I’m not sure exactly what…but clearly we did not understand how tapas work. There was no clear explanation on how, in fact, they do – but clearly at Crush, it is not deigned acceptable practice to consistently deliver said tapas in a reasonable timeframe of under 30 minutes. Drinks orders were lost and had to be requested several times. We were told that “scallops take a long time to cook” (from experience, no more than two minutes typically does the trick), and that “they needed to defrost them first.”
Don’t really know what to do with that one.
It really just became entertaining at a point in the evening when we threw up our hands and just accepted that having no expectations of civility or even decent service was what we were going to get – and eagerly anticipated what was going to come next! Because it was such a roller coaster! And because as we were sitting there, we were perusing other reviews from diners who said exactly the same thing about the service - scattered among the many raving reviews listed in Google.
Pay attention to them – I implore you.
It was, indeed, an experience we shall never forget.
Unfortunately, the food was exceptional. We, sadly, shall never experience it again.
There was a clean-up attempt where, I believe it was the owner, showed up and asked if everything was ok. Graciousness seemed in order, and we replied that the food was exceptional, but that the check was now our priority. The roller coaster had us all reeling at that point, and we really just wanted to get off the ride and on with our evening.
It was useful, however, to stand around outside for a few more moments to align ourselves back into the real universe as opposed to the alternate one we had just experienced. Great food, degrading “entertainment,” and an overall memorable evening.

From the wine to the food and even the decor ... no detail is missed at Crush. The owners are foodies and hospitality defined. Great selection of wine, as well as craft beers and cocktails for the non wino. Highly recommended.
