As a dog mom and wine lover, James Charles is the best vineyard! In Winchester it is near plenty of things to do, and their wines are fabulous, staff is helpful and friendly, and most importantly they are dog friendly for pet parents! The food is also great alongside the wines.

ABSOLUTELY WOW 🤩 I’m actually blown away in the worst possible way,

Step 1 one call the winery to let them know you have 20-30 people

Step 2 email the winery to remind them that you have 20-30 people coming on July 19

Step 3 go in person and purchase $380 worth of wine to secure the patio for July 19 as instructed in all the emails

Step 4 receive a phone call from the owner telling us that they could no longer accommodate that many people And that ā€œ I don’t know what to feed you people ā€œ. ( we are a mixed family by the way ) it was also suggested that we go to Walmart to get some food and that the water was two dollars a bottle… she kept mentioning keeping costs down for us as if that was some type of major issue after we just spent $380 on a case of wine on a rainy Wednesday.

She kept letting us know that that is her busy time
She let us know that her busy time and our reservation cannot be at the same time

Unprofessional, Would be a massive understatement, I have never felt less invited in my entire life, I liked the venue and I tasted 12 bottles of wine 11 of which I wanted to spit out because I thought they mixed it up with Apple cider vinegar and Mr. clean bleach, It was absolutely the worst wine ever there was one that stood out is actually tolerable and we were gonna get multiple of that one but to be polite we just bought a bunch of different wines , zero stars, Please keep an eye out for my TikTok I plan on sharing this abysmal experience with 400,000 people. @thehappyjewtalian

James Charles is a gem! Their wines are hard to beat and Rachel is a friendly, knowledgeable and amazing tasting room hostess!! If you visit Winchester, James Charles needs to be part of your day!! Amazing whites and the best reds around!

What a wonderful place! I was there for my sister's birthday and it was wonderful! Beautiful views and very nice building with plenty of patio and lawn space to enjoy the outdoors. Dog and kid friendly with plenty of room to play. Special note to our bartender Rachel who is extremely polite and attentive. They found gold when they hired her!! Will definitely return with other friends to introduce them to this wonderful place. Don't miss out!

We are so glad to have a winery and beautiful, dog-friendly, property right here in Winchester to spend the day without venturing too far out of town. The staff is always so welcoming and happy to have us in. James Charles is our favorite spot in the summer to sit outside with a glass of wine, catch some live music, and include our dog!

The staff are very knowledgeable and atmosphere is great. Anastasia was awesome with explaining the tasting menu and offering suggestions on different wines. Thanks for a great experience!

They stated they had a sweet wine but what they served me was awful and very very dry. A crap wine. Never coming back.

Fair quality wine. Area was empty. Patio furniture was dirty and legs of tables were failing. Scenery was nice.

I planned on just sending my concerns to the email address on the website but didn't receive a reply or even an acknowledgement of my concerns, so I decided to leave my review instead.
I went to the Watermelon festival in August after looking at the website and seeing what to kind of expect. I was very disappointed by the time I left there. It was a last minute decision to go. I was given the plastic cup with the coupon. Once I entered and decided which winery to use the tasting at started the decline. I was basically told just the names of the wines but no info about the wine. It was a ā€œhere you goā€ type of vibe. The other tent (Bogati) was even worse at customer service. I paid in cash for a glass and they didn’t even have change (as in coins). I waited while they supposedly got some but after a while just left because obviously not worth my time. As I did enjoy the glass, I bought a bottle to enjoy for the rest of my time there. Asked about ice bucket as it was white wine and was told quite briskly that had to go to the bar for one. Went inside and was told there were none and someone would look around outside to try to find one. I saw none myself but after a bit someone brought one in and I grabbed it. Asked for some ice and had to wait. After waiting it was finally filled and since I was going to be sitting inside with the bottle, I asked for an actual glass instead of using a plastic cup. Was told no and if I wanted a glass, I would have to buy one. Excuse me???? I bought a ticket to your event and then a bottle of wine and could not be given an actual glass to enjoy my wine with. That was inexcusable. Even the supposed games were non existent. I guess there was only watermelon rolling but didn’t really see much of that.

I was so disappointed and feel like my afternoon was wasted. I work at a winery so I know what is poor service and BS and what isn’t. Needless to say I will not be attending anything at James Charles or even go there for a visit. I will also not be recommending it to anyone and everyone. The only positive of that afternoon was the watermelon slushy.

I was polite and went along with everything as I am not a ā€œKarenā€ but believe me that I wanted to ask for a manager very much.

We stopped in about an hour before close on a Monday and did a quick wine tasting / had a glass of wine each. The woman working the wine tasting (unfortunately didn’t get her name) was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly! She was also very well versed in college (Hail to Pitt) and professional football too haha! Excellent wine, very nice place, and great service. We will be back when we’re in the area again!

My husband and I visited on Monday, July 8th. We actually picked this particular winery before our trip.
Thought it a little sterile when we walked in but clean.
The woman behind the bar did not seem welcoming.
There were two other people there.
I asked her if we could pull two barstools up to the bar and I was told ā€œnoā€. No explanation. Okay, we asked if water and crackers were available between tastings. ā€œNoā€. I then asked if she was sure we couldn’t bring two barstools over and I was once again told no. There are twenty barstools two of which were occupied.
I couldn’t help myself and asked why? She was stumped and after about three seconds she said ā€œthey don’t allow itā€. At this point I wanted to leave but we had already sipped the first tasting.
Had she just been personable and maybe said I’m sorry we don’t offer water or crackers or we prefer the chairs not moved. How hard is that?
I was not comfortable or happy after that as she knew it. Made somewhat of an effort to be more personable but the damage was done.
The sad thing is we really loved the wine and would have purchased several bottles. We finished what we were obligated to pay for and left.
