I have liven in India and can truly tell you that this is authentic Indian cuisine. I find the taste much higher than any Indian restaurants in Northern Virginia or Washington, D.C. This is the best Indian food you will find anywhere within 75 miles. Try it and you will see that the food here is way above others in flavor.

What a beautiful little place where personal service is paramount! The chef came out and took our order and was so accommodating for my 2yr old to try her 1st Indian cuisine. She really enjoyed it. I loved it too :)

The positives, the food came out fast and the people were so very friendly. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. We got take out. However, I cannot recommend this to anyone. This was actually some the THE worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Got the chicken tikka masala. Tiny portion, terrible rice, masala sauce was mediocre at best and the chicken was awful. Bits of fat in almost every bite, was kind of tough. The naan was literally terrible. I LOVE bread and I couldn’t even force it down. Not impressed at all. I won’t be going back.

Absolutely the best Indian Restaurant in Winchester! I've tried them all and Shiv the owner makes all his dishes fresh from scratch! The herbs and spices were like no other, in fact it was quite intoxicating. Contrary to popular belief, eating Indian food actually lowers my blood sugar and helps with the arthritic inflammation.

Sona is the best place to get Indian food. Especially if you don’t know what you want or are experienced with ordering Indian food. Just tell the owner (Shiv) to take care of you and your expectations will be exceeded.

The best food in town. Hands down. Shiv is an absolutely amazing human being and chef. We’re treated like family every time we walk through the doors here.

You give food classes yet. You have fungus on your frozen Food. The food is Abused I'm ashamed this is Indian food. Who would actually eat here? Only the dummies that are regular? I wouldn't eat my food if I seen his face . It's Dark inside it's there's only one Flavor spicy .

Drove an hour from WV to try Sona. Well worth it. Chef Shiv was very cordial and served me an off-the-menu delicious meal! Top Indian cuisine to be sure

This place was an amazing find! Came here to try it out their food. Apparently, the chef changes the menu depending on what's fresh, which is very exciting!During my meal, the chef approached me and found out my meal wasn't spicy enough and offered me additions to make my meal more spicy without charging me extra. I've never had a chef do that before.I included a picture of their garlic cauliflower, which was delicious. I forgot to take a picture of my Chicken Korma before devouring it with garlic naan...sorry. It was very tasty, though. I 10/10 would eat here again if I wasn't here from out of town.

Food, atmosphere, service and "entertainment" by Chef Shiv are wonderful. We celebrated hubby's last dinner in the States before his adventure vacation to New Zealand here. I am normally NOT a big fan of Indian cuisine, but I love everything that Shiv has served me over the years! Dinner and drinks were GREAT! (And Shiv is ALWAYS entertaining!) If you have not been in recently, TRY IT OUT!Parking: Parking lot recently resurfaced and lines painted. Lot is well let too.Dietary restrictions: My daughter and one of my Grandaughters have dietary restrictions, and SHIV creates a custom meal for them, that they can eat without fear of adverse effects.....Just let him know what you need, and what you have to avoid.

Me and my gals came for my birthday, and I couldn't have been happier. We are DEFINITELY coming back! Food (5/5): Everything we ate was delicious. They're currently working on a limited menu, but if you don't want to order off it, you can just tell the chef the protein and spice level you want and he'll make you a dish. It was spectacular! We had a party of 6, so we got 2 chicken, 1 pork, 2 vegetarian, and 1 fish dish. The Naan was perfectly seasoned and came with chutneys for days! Now for the best part... the samosas. We got 2 orders and it came with 4 different chutneys. The main dishes had all different flavors and spices to give you an idea of the sorts of dishes that the chef could make as well as show off the spices. We have baby mouths so we got level 1 spice, but we tried a few of the higher spice levels. Ambiance (5/5): It had very cozy vibes, like someone's house. The water fixture was a perfect touch to adding background noise with the music. Lots of golds, reds, and artwork on the walls to give you an authentic experience. Service (5/5): The service was epic. We got here at 1pm and started chatting with the staff about the menu; she brought out the chef and we all got to talking about food, allergies, and likes/dislikes. The chef asked for a protein & spice level and made each of us a special dish. We had 6 curries on the table shortly with 2 bowls of Naan and 2 plates of rice. After our meal, we were not rushed out, even though they closed 30 mins prior (they have limited hours, so call ahead to make sure they're open)! We talked to the staff and found out that due to covid & a hit-and-run that demolished part of their building, the staff are volunteers who have been regulars for 13+ years! They make you feel like family there. TLDR: AMAZING food, staff, and vibe. Samosas are a must!

Every time I've dined here, the food has been phenomenal, the chef has chatted with our table and makes special recommendations, and the atmosphere has been so cozy! Sometimes tears will come to our eyes because the food is so good and he can really bring the spice (if that's what you order)! I'm moving away from Winchester and this is one of the few little gems I'm going to genuinely miss.
