Water Street Kitchen is a nice brunch and lunch spot. The Santa Fe egg rolls are crisp and tasty, while the animal-style fries covered in cheese, caramelized onions, and a tangy thousand island sauce are also recommended. The Rachel entree tops the meal off nicely. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
On a weekday visit, the quiet restaurant served delicious food. The meatloaf was amazing, and the catfish was fried to golden perfection and very flaky. The crispy Brussels sprouts were incredible, although the mac and cheese was not as impressive. The cornbread, however, was sweet and spongy.
Travelers stopping in Winchester for the night found this gem in the historical section of town. The warm and friendly atmosphere, along with the excellent fried chicken and grilled cheese with tomato soup, made for a delightful dinner. The cocktails, such as the black walnut old fashioned and the Ruby Red Crush, were also a highlight.
