Disappointed and Frustrated – A Birthday Treat Gone Wrong I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience after a frustrating morning trying to get a simple birthday donut for my daughter. I placed a mobile order at Duck Donuts in Woodbridge, VA at 8:33 AM for two donuts and a coffee, and the app confirmed it would be ready for pickup at 8:44 AM. Since the store’s listed opening time is 8:30 AM, I assumed everything was on track. When I arrived, however, the doors were locked and there was a handwritten note on the door saying, “Fryer busted, open at 9.” This was incredibly disappointing—especially since this was supposed to be a special breakfast treat to kick off my daughter’s birthday. I didn’t have the luxury to wait until 9:00 AM, so I left and later called the store at 9:14 AM to see if I could cancel my order OR pick it up later in the day when I get my daughter from school. To my surprise, the young woman who answered (Valerie) told me the order had already been made, they were now open, and no, I could not get a refund and I should pick the order up now. When I asked to speak with the manager, she claimed she was the manager. When I asked for her name, she suddenly “couldn’t hear me” and hung up. (I had to call back to get it) I’m incredibly frustrated by the lack of professionalism and care. If the store wasn’t able to fulfill orders at opening time, the app should not have accepted my order—especially with a specific pickup window before they were even operational. Mistakes happen, but the bare minimum should be decent customer service and clear communication, which were both severely lacking here. To add insult to injury, I’ve had previous odd experiences at this location, like being told there’s a minimum order of two donuts when I tried to just get one. That was strange, but I let it go. This time, however, was the final straw. I won’t be returning, and it’s a shame because we used to enjoy coming here. A birthday morning should not start with disappointment over something so simple.

Excellent cake donuts, freshly made (as in, right there when you order), with excellent toppings! Can't go wrong if you like cake donuts!
This location has been known to run out of ingredients/filled donuts, and the staff, while very friendly, sometimes have problems with English and competency.
You can sit down to eat, and it's not uninviting, but it is lackluster with its comfort, unless perhaps you enjoy blaring Latino music.

Terrible donuts, not worthy of the name of Duck Donuts at all. Terrible service and the atmosphere was even worse. I will never go to another Duck Donuts franchise again.

I’m shocked that the Duck Donuts corporate offices are not making sure their franchises are following quality standards.

This place is awful. They don’t care about what they’re doing and what product they are giving customers.

Also, there is a handwritten sign that says that the employees don’t receive any tips that are placed on credit cards - which might have something to do with the overall product those employees are giving customers.

Do yourself a favor and just go to Wegmans just a few hundred feet away and get donuts there.

We walked in hoping for a special treat. We encountered about 6-8 people waiting, sitting and waiting for two staff to prepare their orders. While 4 more patrons were at the register waiting to place an order. Hmm. No. Saved money & calories by walking out. Fast food should be just that… efficient. Thank you for making a lasting impression.

We love Duck Donuts and used to frequent the NC location. Since we moved VA, this is our first time getting donuts from this location. The store was clean and not busy. The cashier was friendly when we placed our order. We couldn’t wait to devour these tasty treats. Once we got home, after biting into the donut it was very disappointing to have a few of the donuts still raw. The dough was not cooked in the middle. We ended up cutting most of the donuts in half to check the dough and had to throw 4 out of the 12 away due to it not being fully cooked. I haven’t cut the remaining 4 donuts yet but I’m hoping they are fully cooked. Not sure how this can happen since the store uses an automated machine to make the donuts.

I have been coming here for years, only to wait in line for 15 minutes and find that my order could not be fulfilled because they changed their policy at this location. I wanted to support the local business by surprising my son with a single bacon caramel donut, as he loves Duck Donuts, only to be told that we must now purchase in increments of 3, 6, or 9. The lady and gentleman behind the counter seemed indifferent, refusing to sell a single donut and I walked away empty-handed.

Filthy hoodies and visible underwear on food service employees. Filthy floors. A 26-minute wait time for my party, even longer for other patrons, because they had to prepare dough. Sloppy environment with machines out of service and napkin dispensers empty. They need to clean the customer restroom and return the special restroom to the customers.

Out of milk and couldn’t offer over half of the drinks on the menu. I ordered for my family right before closing, they forgot to make my breakfast donut sandwich and absolutely refused to give me a refund due to “the register is closed” but also couldn’t make what I ordered because by the time they realized they forgot to make my order; they had everything shut down. The gentleman that was running the counter was absolutely apologetic and the only reason I’m giving service three stars. The store was filthy with the straw/spoon/silverware holder looking like it hadn’t been cleaned in a year. Iced coffees were well below par. Beyond disappointed I didn’t get my order and the one lady was borderline rude about refusing a refund. I will never set foot in this store again.

Called out for several minutes before a seriously disinterested employee begrudgingly took our order, but still made me feel bad for interrupting his break. Two stars because the donuts were excellent and diabetes-inducing, as always.

The staff was not courteous and did not seem interested in pleasing the customers. They served a half-filled cup of drink. When a complaint was made, they responded by saying that the customer had requested less ice.

We waited for long (like 15 minutes) to get our doughnuts. They changed their policy so you can't order a single doughnut,, you have to buy set of 3, 6, or 12. We were 4 people so ended up buying 6.

Placed a 900 am order as I had a meeting at 930am. Order was not ready guy said that the order slip says 9am but some app says 930 which makes no sense whatsoever. Only came here as the people for the meeting requested ducks. So now 75 dollars later he's like I can maybe get it done by 915 or 920. So I have to scramble to make the meeting on time because of an establishment that planned poorly. A bit unprofessional to say the least.

Was a little busy so the area couldn't be cleaned between customers.
