food is good but the portion given is underwhelming for the price
It was our first time visiting and we were sadly very disappointed.
The service was slow but the lady who served us was very nice and helpful.
Onto the food, the flavors of the egusi and chicken with jollof rice were good but the food did not taste fresh. The fish in the egusi was dry and overcooked. We were told the egusi had beef and fish in it but there was only one tiny cube of beef so we felt cheated. The fish had a tone of bones as well making it hard to eat. The jollof rice with chicken also was not fresh, the chicken barely had any meat on it- they gave us two wings which made us feel like we got cheated again- because for a platter you would expect more meat on it but it was mainly bone. The plantains were not freshly fried- they tasted old. We also ordered a meat pie which again was very skimpy on the filling, there was barely any meat- if anything it was mainly potatoes and vegetables which was very confusing. To summarize- we felt the food was old/not fresh and everything felt very skimpy especially for what they charged us. We are very disappointed with our experience.
It was a great pleasure to be @Hajara’s kitchen, we drove for 3hours on Eid Celebration day to have something different to celebrate, and it really worth it. We Enjoyed every moment of our stay, we love the pounded yam and egunsi, the Zobo drink was wow, the spring roll, puff puff and the Suya was the lit.
Thank you so much as I can’t wait to come over again.
I’ve tried to support this local business several times, but unfortunately, each experience has been disappointing. I really value supporting small businesses, but it becomes difficult when the service consistently falls short. This time, my fiancée and I decided to give them one final chance and placed an order through DoorDash. We ordered right when they opened, but a few minutes later we received a call informing us they were out of beef and could only provide chicken for the wrap. Oddly, the person on the phone said the wrap was already prepared but if that were the case, why did it take another 40 minutes for the food to be ready? The delivery driver ended up waiting far too long, which wasn’t fair to them either. When our order finally arrived, it was extremely underwhelming. The wrap was drenched in sauce and contained maybe five small pieces of chicken….definitely not worth the $22 price tag on DoorDash. On top of that, the portion of fries was very skimpy. Sadly, this was the final straw. After multiple failed attempts, we won’t be ordering from here again. I really wanted to love this place, but it just isn’t worth the frustration or the cost.
Great meal, love the Zobo and Ginger drink
Terrible service....my first time patronizing the place....poor packaging my pounded yam with egusi. The stew was burnt and tasted awful....and cost me $25.50.
Ordered at counter. Waited too long for my husband’s meal (no other customers) and then mine did not come for 40 minutes. No communication from the one staff member. Terrible. Will not come again.
It was nice and welcoming. The food was amazing. I mean the Egusi and pounded yam and all. Jakarta was also there to chat and welcome us. If you need a place for west African food. This is the place to be.
Here is my honest opinion
The price is way expensive for the food compare to other African food/ restaurant
The food taste good though spicy for my American fiancé but he loves the flavors especially the tenderness of both the chicken and meat 😍
But I do hate when you dine in, you have to pay for the water( it should be free?)
The Togo boxes are not sustainable I personally think a bowl is necessary and she did give me one 🙂
Hajara does have a great personality and professionalism, her customer service was top of the cherry 🙂
Her daughter that sat in the front though we’ll not so much but she is young so maybe 🤷🏿♀️
Overall I think 4 ⭐️ and I might only go there once a while since it very pricey
I spent $67 for chicken soup and cassava leaves
