Stopped by here on my drive home. The cafe latte was decent enough and the blueberry muffin quite good, but service was decidedly unfriendly, bordering on rude. I recognize it’s not the best job, perhaps especially on a Saturday morning. The payment screen offers customers a choice of 15%, 20% or 25% tips. I tipped as I always do out of respect for people in these service positions but the Coffee Bar staff definitely didn’t deserve it. If you visit, consider leaving a cash tip AFTER you receive your order. Otherwise you may regret that you tipped. I’ll spare the details of my experience. Suffice it to say I’m taking the time to write this in the hope that it may benefit future customers and to be completely candid, also to vent my displeasure. I also write in the (more distant) hope that reviews such as this one may nudge the Coffee Bar staff towards learning, appreciating and implementing the basics of acceptable customer service and recognizing that tips are not an entitlement but a reward for good service or at a minimum service that doesn’t prompt a customer to write a review such as this one. If you’re reading this, please check out other reviews, both positive and negative. Perhaps you’ll have a better experience if you visit or simply an uneventful one from a customer service perspective. I’ll be curious to see future posts just to see if there are signs of any positive changes at this establishment.

The coffee is nice, and the decor is interesting. It's dog-friendly, which can be nice, but also problematic - dogs are allowed to climb up at the counter, and sometimes they slobber there, and a couple times dogs became unruly and very loudly barked at each other, so we're not sure whether we'll go back.

Just had cookies and coffee. Came to hear Kris Delmhorst and her band perform songs from her latest LP, 'Ghosts in the Garden', which was wonderful. Thr space was very airy and clean, with lots of art on the walls. Staff was very accomodating and the overall impression is that it would be a great place to come regularly if I was ever in Bennington.

Relaxed atmosphere open early in the morning. Helped by a friendly staff member. The best cup of hot cocoa I've ever had that I didn't make myself. Also got a lemon poppyseed muffin that was fantastic!

Excellent maple latte made with local Vermont maples. Loved the vibes, they organize events and programs here apparently. Coffee sourced from Cameroon, and the lady serving us was very nice and helpful.
It’s a great environment, the coffee is good and the people who work here are amazing, but they don’t have prices on the menu which I think is a very shady practice.

The barista was extremely rude. We ordered our coffees and left a tip. I ordered 2 espresso shots and then last minute decided I wanted some hot water in my mug too and she gave me a horrible look then I had to use the bathroom and asked politey at the counter 3 times for the key, all of which she ignored. 3 different locals tried to help me with the bathroom because they said it's normally not locked. Then one of the locals told me she said maybe somebody is in the bathroom cleaning it? Anyway I waited about 10 minutes and still didn't get to use the bathroom. I had to drive down the block and pee on the side of the road because nowhere else was open. I felt like walking back inside and taking my tip back. Also she was chewing gum with her mouth open while making everyones drinks. Pretty gross.
