The food was very good, especially the nachos. The bartender was great, and the place is warm and inviting.

8-14-24. I walked to this downtown bar from the Brandon Inn where I stayed the evening. I felt quite comfortable in this quant VT town. Maria was the friendly bartender that knew what she was doing. It seemed like a nice regular cliental. I was there to further my buzz. I highly recommend supporting this local bar.

The food here was excellent! The service was also very good. We enjoyed a nice dinner with generous portions. Would recommend!
Had a reservation for lunch. We were seated quickly and then ignored for 40 minutes. We got up and left.
Went for dinner with my wife. The ambience is relaxed elegance. Service was excellent and service by Nathan was great. I had the Provence seafood stew that was delicious. Used my bread to sop up all the broth which was heavenly. Finished with the Chef's tasting dessert, the perfect finish.
see title. Do not miss this French gem in a small Vermont village-service , food, ambiance all wonderful-I had a delicious duck breast
We enjoyed an early dinner under the extensive shaded patio near lovely flower gardens and potted plants. Not pretentious but nice quality with a French flair, and reasonable prices.
I was in Vermont for a 10 day road trip and staying with a friend in Middlebury and the main purpose of the trip was to watch my grandson who plays on the UVM hockey team in Burlington. The first days of the trip my host and her brother and wife wanted to go to the Cafe Provence in Brandon and off we went. Didn't know quite what to expect but the menu looked exciting and we all had different selections. I went with the calimari and greens and it was Wow, some of the best calimari I have ever had. So light and crispy, no rubber at all and totally loved it. The others all very much enjoyed their choices. Went for a trio of desserts, the maple creme brulee stood out along with the like chocolate brownie with ice cream. One of the best meals I had by far in Vermont. Wait staff most friendly and accommodating and always love the open kitchen vibe. We enjoyed the food so much, my friend and I went back a few days later. I loved the calimari so much I had that again and also opted for the French Onion soup and that was a meal in itself and was excellent. Again a couple of desserts. This time the maple creme brulee was in a different type container and maybe made by another hand as not quite as good as the first time I had it. My only negative and a most minor one. For sure if in this area, I would put Cafe Provence as a must stop. It was of great value and prices more than fair. Jim at Maplelag in Minnesota
From out of town. Was looking for food and a beer. Thought this place looked perfect to watch a game and enjoy a cold one. Unfortunately only one tv worked the other didn’t have the capability to play any sports. The worst part was the bartender that acted like we were an inconvenience just being there. Plus side the burger was great…. Thank god because it was $17. 2 burgers + 2 beers = $52
We stopped off here for lunch on what was probably the hottest weekend in July. It was great to have comfortable and shady outdoor seating, and our food was delicious. I particularly remember the excellent gazpacho.

Wanting just a casual dinner we tried the downstairs pub of Cafe Provence and were not disappointed. Our server Nicky answered our questions about several of the menu items and provided regular attention throughout our group's dinner. The Jalapeno Poppers are a must and my beef tips must have come from the upstairs Cafe Provence kitchen as the sauce was incredible. Others in our party were totally satisfied with their nachos, vegetable pizza, burger and fish and chips.
Great good people good food beverages always cold
Food is exceptional. From the cucumber soup , Beet salad, escargot, to the entree seafood stew or the duck special. A restaurant worthy of a trip to dine here ( we have a house 15 mins away) some things I’d do differently, I’d dine later and outside . We went early and ate inside ( their ac is not robust enough to cool it) as it was mid 80’s outside . But if I was in France .. 0 AC , so it was Authentic:). Service was excellent, off street parking . Limited but good wine list . Desserts are a strong point :). The food was better than 5 stars ..

We were staying in the area and based on reviews from various sites we made a reservation to have dinner at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated and met our waitress. We really wanted to like this place. We ordered a bottle of wine and reviewed the menu. We then heard about the specials from our waitress. We seldom eat red meat but the steak special sounded great, so we both ordered the strip steak with flavored potatoes and a vegetable. This is reportedly a French restaurant with the chef on-site and involved in the food preparation. Well, after ordering our waitress returned and advised she was incorrect on the potatoes, they would instead be garlic mashed which was fine with us. The wine was good and our dinners arrived. The potatoes were apparently over whipped as they were basically a liquid pool for the steak to sit in. The potatoes did not have a hint of flavor, garlic or otherwise. The steak was cooked properly (medium for both of us) but also was flavorless. It seemed to be a nice cut but somehow there was simply no flavor. The green beans also had little to no flavor. Despite this, we ordered dessert. The DW had cinnamon bread pudding while I had the creme brûlée. Both desserts were mediocre, not what we expected from a fairly highly rated French restaurant. Possibly it was an off day, but we were really disappointed with our meals. As stated previously, we really wanted to enjoy and like this place but it was simply not the case. When the check arrived our dismay only increased. We cannot possibly recommend this restaurant.
