So sad that this place has closed! The dogs and I loved it!
They're closing up shop tomorrow, so we wanted to go before that. Sat at the bar. We put our cash out on the bar, the bartender totally ignored us. She walked past us several times, choosing instead to put away clean glasses. We finally just got up and left. Farewell!
Will miss this place - very kind people and the best sours I've had.
Crushed to hear this fantastic brewery is closing ? Though severely out of my everyday price range, their kettle-aged sours were some of the best luxury treats I’ve bought myself. Also not sure if it will upload but there is red paint spill in their lavatory… it’s in the shape of a hermit thrush. If that isn’t destiny that this place belongs there, I don’t know what is!Sending you love, Hermit Thrush!
They are currently not serving here, Nice spot but you can’t try anything its retail sales Togo only
Has the feel of a local tavern you wish went to every day in 1500 to get affordable delicious beer. For the sour fans!
Very nice staff. Wide selection of sours.
If you love sour beer, this is the place for you! Lots of fun options and you can do a flight to sample. Cans to take home if you find a favorite. The first visit we had our dog and they brought her a bowl of water, so nice. Love the atmosphere with the pop art display of products and the nice windows to watch street traffic.
SOUR BEERS ONLY!!I felt a little strange starting with that, but most of the negative reviews are from people who went to a sour beer brewery and don't like sours. . . .I absolutely loved this place. Favorite brewery by far. Tons of different sour options. Lots of beer to go. Super friendly staff. No food here, but they were cool with me bringing my own food. Thanks all! Can't wait to come back.
Unique beers and helpful staff. A wide range of ABV and high quality. Not a gimmick; this was a great stop.

Great venue, chill vibe, friendly staff. You must be willing to try and enjoy sour beer - this is what they do. I was introduced to Hermit Thrush with by an off-license store in Connecticut, and I haven't been disappointed. A little on the pricey side, but the variety of sour is top notch. I routinely make trips to Brattleboro just for Hermit Thursh.
We had a wonderful experience at Hermit Thrush. They welcomed our puppy and were happy to answer questions and give suggestions. Customer service was excellent. They also have gluten free cider which was very good. My husband loved the beers he tried. We will be back next time we are in the area!
Love the cozy vibe of this place. Sours aren’t my favorite but the sampler was perfect. Just wish they labeled what beer was what.
Great brewery for sour beers. Definitely recommend stopping by for a flight!
I've had their beers before, and somehow pictured they'd be located on a farm, not in downtown Brattleboro. But, here they are, in a small space with ample metered parking all around.Hermit Thrush only brews (excellent) sours, but they do have a few quality guest taps for anyone in your group who insists on a lager or an IPA.Overwhelmed by the long list of beers? Start with a flight of four 5 oz pours, selected by the bartender, who will pick a variety based on your past experience with sours.Everything I had was wonderful. The bartender gave us glasses of sparkling water and was ok with us sitting down with sandwiches we brought in from outside. A great experience! Wander around the nearby shops before or after your visit.
