An excellent fine dining experience. We visited fairly early on a Tuesday so the restaurant was relatively empty but the atmosphere was well curated and the few staff on hand were immediately friendly and engaged. The chef brought out the main courses and made himself readily available for questions about the meal, while the service staff were very knowledgeable about the Wine and menu.
Overall I’m sure the experience would be ideal on a weekend evening, but they have honed their menu to very high degree, and the staff is passionate and capable. A worthy repeat experience.
What a fantastic place. Food was amazing atmosphere perfect for a meal when u want to chat and catch up and the service is outstanding. Highly recommend
What an unbelievably amazing dining experience!
I enjoyed the prix fixe menu and added on the foie gras - made in the most scrumptious crème brûlée style! With bits of lobster and layers of flavor it was all I could do not to lick the plate clean.
The salad is not just a salad but fresh Bibb lettuce, quail egg and perfectly delicate Dijon dressing.
The Artic char was cooked perfectly with crispy skin, creamy tomato mashed potatoes and lobster cream sauce.
The recommended pairing of the Bourgogne Chardonnay was spot on.
Enjoyed Espresso with the Mousse au Chocolate with a hint of citrus for a delectable finish.
I felt welcomed the moment I walked in the door and Chef Mahé was so kind to stop by the table and chat about the dishes. I highly recommend and can’t wait to be back with friends.
The food here was phenomenal, every dish paired with a perfect side and garnish and delivered with a personal touch. The dining area wasn't too crowded and quiet enough to enjoy a pleasant conversation over a bottle of wine. I felt like there was some room for some additional decor, however the large street-side window and centerpiece worked well with the dining atmosphere.
The meats were tender and cooked to the exact specifications desired, and the flavors stacked on top of each other with grace. The wine service the waitstaff provided was professional and served to enhance our meal. We were paid enough service to never need to wait for a refill or to have our dishes cleared. Time between each course was extraordinary, and it never felt like we were being pestered or overwhelmed. It seems our shellfish allergy was also paid to close mind when we ordered.
As soon as we were seated, I noticed the chef going around and asking every table how they enjoyed their meal. This is an exemplary service that not many restaurants in the Burlington area offer. I was excited to talk after our meal was complete to share our feedback. I was, however, disappointed that this opportunity was missed on us. It seemed the tables next to us provided greater interest, as patrons entered and orders after us and were spoken to before their third course was delivered. As excited as I was to chat with the chef only to be disappointed, I must revoke some service stars, as it weighed on my mind heavily after our meal.
Great French style upscale bistro! Impecable service and classic French fare superbly prepared! The chef will come to your tablecheck personally that your experience was top!
Excellent dinner for our party of four. Great table service and the Chef even made time to meet with diners at several tables including ours to check in on our food and experience. We had reservations so no wait.
It was a pleasant surprise to have such a wonderful French food in Burlington, Vermont. I thought the quality of the dishes easily ravials the ones in Paris, NYC and Tokyo. it is a very stylish restaurant and the sevice was very friendly and professional, too. I will certainly visit this restaurant again.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary here this evening. Wonderful experience! Our server Amy was a perfect mix of professional knowledgeable and friendly! Food was excellent (wife had the mussels and I had the vegetarian dish). Bibb salad was awesome and desserts of chocolate mousse and 1910 pastry were excellent. Very enjoyable dinner! Definitely recommend

It was an absolute delight to eat at Bistro de Margo last night.
We did not have a reservation, but arrived quite early in the evening and they happened to have a table available (the server said a free table is uncommon as they are usually all booked up, so it is best to make a reservation in the future).
My husband and I got the prix fixe menu, which I thought was a pretty stellar price point. I was even more pleased when the food came out! The food exceeded our expectations! Absolutely delicious. I got the creme brulee fois gras, which was to die for. For my main, I got the duck (mind-blowing flavor) and for dessert, I got the Paris Brest, which was rich and delicious, but I ended up trading it with my husband for his lemon tart in a jar, which was lighter and a little more refreshing.
The servers were fantastic, quick, and friendly. The chef came out to say hello and ask us about the food and our experience.
If we lived near here, we would visit this restaurant regularly. My husband (who is quite a food critic, especially when it comes to French food) raved about how good his meal was (steak frites and Rillettes de Porc & Canard Confit) for the rest of the night.
Thank you for a great dinner and overall experience!

My party and I had a wonderful time. Both the Chef/Owner and staff were very nice and friendly. Happy to explain each dish. My personal favorite was pan seared duck leg with excellent potatoes side. M our waitress made our evening feel complete with her friendly personality.

Our experience at Bistro de Margot was truly one of a kind and easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcomed and comfortable. We were traveling with our 10-month-old daughter, and they could not have been more accommodating. Not only did they offer a high chair right away and assist with our stroller storage, but they even went the extra mile by bringing out a little something extra for her to enjoy. It’s rare to find a restaurant that caters so well to families with young children, and it made the entire evening that much more enjoyable for us.
The staff were all incredibly friendly, and it was clear that customer service is a top priority here. Every waiter who came by was genuinely interested in how we were doing, and we never felt rushed or like we were just another table. What really stood out to us was when the chef himself came out to speak with us. He took the time to ask about our experience, how we were enjoying the meal, and even shared a bit about the dishes and the inspiration behind them. This personal touch made us feel valued and appreciated, which is something you don’t often see in many places.
And then there’s the food – absolutely phenomenal! Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and presented beautifully. It was clear that a lot of care and attention goes into every plate that leaves the kitchen. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was just delicious. The quality of the ingredients and the expertise in preparation was evident in every bite. This was the kind of meal where you savor every flavor and genuinely feel like you’re experiencing something special. It’s been a long time since we’ve had food this good.
I can confidently say that every penny we spent was more than worth it. Bistro de Margot delivers not only on the food but also on the experience. We left the restaurant feeling full, happy, and completely satisfied. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether you’re a couple looking for a nice night out or a family dining with children. They make it work effortlessly for everyone. Without a doubt, the next time we are in Burlington, we will be sure to make a reservation here again. It was an all-around incredible experience that we won’t forget anytime soon.

One of the best meals I’ve had in the Burlington area. Perfectly done duck in a delicious berry sauce. Had a bite of fellow diner’s steak frites - not your average preparation— yum! Pistachio pastry for dessert was fabulous. Service outstanding- well paced dining experience. Chef came out to chat and check on the meal. It was obvious that he genuinely interested in our thoughts.

Very good service. The whole staff was nice.
Leek and mushroom tartelette was truly excellent, and the side vegetables were crunchy and delicious.
Gazpacho amuse bouche was fine in small quantity but too salty.
I do not recommend the mussels.
Avoid the meringue dessert. The violet flavor was so intense that it tasted like fancy soap.

Did a great job accommodating allergies. A lot of the menu is too over the top for me, for example I love quail but had reservations about foie gras in the stuffing. We wound up with a daily special and really enjoyed it.
