I got the steak tip salad. It was perfect. And the mud pie is now my favorite dessert of all time. I hope to find something similar near where I live.

Ribeye came out grey with no grill marks on it at all. Ordered medium rare. I put the butter side on it and it didn’t melt as the steak was just warm. Waitress was new but not sure how a chef could put out such a product. It looked boiled. It needed salt which I had to ask for. I didn’t say anything. I will never go back.

Dinner was amazing, we ordered shrimp cocktail and Mussels as an appetizer and both were extremely fresh and yummy. For dinner we both got Filet mignon cooked to perfection. Service was smooth and attentive. One of the best steak houses we have been to in a while.

This place is nice! How is there no flies in the restaurant? Many restaurants in this area have flies. Maybe someone catches flies in the restaurant? I like that there is no flies here.

Food and atmosphere were decent. Service not so much. While the server was attentive, she was incredibly rude at one point and lied about something the owner supposedly said about our group.

We chose E.B. Strong’s to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was the perfect spot for a special occasion dinner. Nestled right on Church Street, the restaurant offers an upscale, relaxed atmosphere that feels like an escape from the rougher edges of downtown just a few blocks away.

To start, we enjoyed a beautifully balanced maple old fashioned—a nod to Vermont’s local flavor and a great way to ease into the evening. For appetizers, the tartare was outstanding: tenderloin finely chopped and elevated by truffle salt, quail egg, and crispy fried wonton. The PEI mussels were another standout, served in a decadent chorizo cream sauce with sweet corn and leeks—perfect for soaking up with the grilled baguette.

For mains, we tried the Chef’s Surf & Turf, which combined a perfectly cooked petit filet with a succulent lobster tail, buttery mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach—all tied together with a rich Béarnaise sauce. The coffee-spiced, pan-seared venison (a nightly special) was both creative and expertly prepared, with deep, complex flavors that made it truly memorable.

We wrapped up with a cheesecake in a jar, topped with blueberries—simple, creamy, and satisfying.

While the service was a bit slow, it was still professional and courteous. Overall, this is one of the few places in the region that truly delivers a fine dining experience. Yes, it’s pricey—but for a meaningful night out, E.B. Strong’s is absolutely worth it.

High quality, relaxing and casual experience with crisp and clean appointments, held up by adept and engaging service, all around a kickass menu and kitchen. Eb's offers a comfortable-yet-classy balance of great food, people, and atmosphere. Quality commensurate with pricing.

My belated birthday dinner with 3 friends was an unfortunate experience. It was our first visit, and chosen based on good reviews from friends. The prime rib special wasn’t available rare; our waiter claimed all meats were medium rare or more done. My 12 oz. cut was much more medium and not hot! It looked and tasted suspiciously sous vide, not slow roasted. It was tough and gristly, not an excellent example of prime aged beef.

Fortunately, the sides were much better than the entree and saved the evening. Brussels were excellent and highly recommended, mashed potatoes were very good, and my friends’ other sides were highly rated, as well.

Rather than just the grumbling of an old codger, others were world travelers and have dined at the finest restaurants worldwide. They weren’t impressed.

We won’t be returning.

Let’s begin with the atmosphere. The dark wood is inviting and reminiscence of a classic steakhouse. I must say, I found the booth fairly uncomfortable.

We ordered our drinks and appetizer (calamari and crab cake). Calamari was good, crab cake was fishy and salty.

For our main course we split the porterhouse, mushrooms, and garlic mashed potatoes. The mushrooms were good. The potatoes lacked garlic and could use some more butter. They lacked overall flavor.

The steak was ordered medium rare. Yet, it was mostly cooked rare, it was bland, while I understand it was dry aged, this had no flavor to it. No flavor to it whatsoever. Needed salt desperately. And the salt provided, being what I believe is pink Himalayan salt did not seem to pair well with the aged steak. We chose chimichurri to go along with it, and that was just a tad bit on the tart side. And perhaps it seemed that way because there was no proper balance between the flavors of it all. It was quite disappointing.

It was just all overall bland and disappointing
