Delicious! The orange wine, tomato tartine and chicken schnitzel were highlights :)

Do not miss the opportunity to come to this restaurant.
They were semi finalists in the 2025 James Beard awards... And you can see why. We tried the tuna crudo (10/10), tremolo bread, fried green tomatoes, crispy pork belly (10/10), grilled vegetables and more.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Seek it out. Make the time.

Best service, best vibes, best food!

I had pretty high expectations going in given the reviews, but I was left feeling a bit let-down by the food. I had a good experience with the service and thought the atmosphere was great.

The quality of food definitely seems to be there as far as sourcing and freshness, which I love; though I just did not feel that taste, texture or prep was in the tier of its price point. The flavors seemed a bit one-note or bland for my dishes of the pork belly and the grilled beans and the preparation of the pork belly seemed very basic—the fat rendering, juiciness, tenderness, etc. wasn’t quite there. The raspberry sauce on the pork belly was very sweet and struck me as one-note.

It seemed as if they went for simplicity over creativity at least in my experience with my dishes; which some might appreciate. I left just sort of feeling like I could have prepared the same dishes for myself, which isn’t quite what I’m going for at the price point.

Even though I felt a little let-down by the food, I think this place deserves its success and would look forward to seeing new dishes. Maybe it was a one-off sub-par experience. That creativity or taste wow-factor just didn’t really seem to be there for me!

Unexpected busy weeknight but even with reservations the service was slow but our server was doing her best. Limited menu and fair to moderate portions. The meal was ok but nothing outstanding in encouraging one to return. Not an ideal location but glad they were very busy.

Let me preface this review with acknowledging how much we adore May Day and look forward to trying each time we visit Btown. We've been watching them grow for years- the vibe is awesome, the branding, marketing, socials are on point. The service staff is always phenomenal and it's a real treat to observe the owner of the restaurant rolling up the sleeves in such a way and working alongside the team to make the experience flawless from start to finish.

With that being said, the past few times we have visited, whoever is in charge of finishing the dishes has had a very heavy hand in the salt container. To the point of not being able to finish the meal which is something we rarely do. Normally we would write this off as a one off but it has happened more than once recently so I hope it's just a matter of training BOH staff a bit more.

Overall, a fantastic spot with genuinely wonderful people and food options. We wish them only the best.

Great food, but an enormously uninterested staff. Grew tired of watching staff play on their phones by the register while our drinks were empty.
Probably will wander down the street to Gold this week.

This is probably the fifth time I’ve eaten here. I will not argue the food quality, it’s always good. The new menu is interesting , but definitely more expensive.

What I was bummed about was the attitude and service quality of the staff. These areas have declined in recent visits to this restaurant. We came in on a Tuesday night and they had multiple staff standing around—trying wines, not checking on food, and not asking if we needed anything. I was completely finished my meal before my partner’s even came out.

In short, the hipster vibe, along with the corresponding “we’re too cool to serve you” approach were a massive turn off. We eat out a lot, and will likely not return.

It’s easy to understand May Days acclaimed as a James Beard finalist in 2025. Have been eating here since the opening and the kitchen production is just amazing. The host (one of the owners?) goes the extra mile to take care of everyone until seated and on our recent outing he pinched hit for a bartender who was swamped. Be ready for a bustling, lively and uber satisfying experience!

Always an excellent experience! The wine list is really well curated and thought about, cocktails are inventive, and the rotating menu offers something for everyone while sourcing local ingredients year round. This is such a gem for everything from a casual drink with a friend to a special occasion spot.
Not to be missed.
