We just left the feast of the seven fishes and once again the May Day crew has provided an incredible meal and experience. WOW. It’s amazing to visit a local spot where the dedication to craft is so evident in every bite, and also where it’s so welcoming and casual that we feel like we are at a friend’s house each time we come.
Thank you so much to the whole team, our family feels so lucky to have you all in town.

This is by far the best restaurant in Vermont. We first tried this place on a whim, and were not disappointed. It is the only restaurant in Vermont that we always want to go back to. The food is exceptional, the service is exemplary, and the atmosphere is what you would expect at a Michelin Star restaurant. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

One of a very select few bvt restaurants where we assume each dish will be interesting, seasonally local with an odds to far off culinary reaches , most everything excellently executed.
Recently had the best muscles dish we found in our 20 years of dining out in Burlington.
The whole staff is part of an impressive hustle. Better than anything that came before it on the ONE ..

I CAN NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!!....The food was absolutely delicious, BUT...it was so loud in the place I could barely hear the person across the table from me (roughly 2 feet away)...Given it's a small room and perhaps the volume of conversation is a reflection of our abrasive culture....BUT there should be signs strategically placed around the dining room reading something like 'Please keep your voice(s) low.'

Visiting from out of town and stopped in for dinner. What a great find! I enjoyed a glass of wine and the Sunday night special, which was a delicious $10 burger. The broccoli appetizer was also phenomenal and definitely worth trying. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better.

They squeezed us in with no reservations. The vibe is great. The wine list is interesting and our server, Meagan, knew about everything. Generous with tastes and pours. The food. I love food. I love to think about food, read about food, cook experimentally. When I eat out my ideal is for the food to not only be delicious, but also a little surprising. May Day is the best experience I have had in a long time. Bonus, I think Meagan and I are friends now. PS. Husband I agree that the swordfish was the best we have ever had.

The ambiance of this place is cool but their menu isn’t labeled at all so you have to ask about each menu item and sometimes they can’t tell you if it’s vegan or not.

We dined at May Day for the first time recently and loved it!
Our favorite dishes included the Tremolo bread (made by a baker who grinds their own flour) with whipped ricotta and hot honey, the Scarpinocc (stuffed pasta with chèvre, corn and mushrooms) and the Chicken Schnitzel (perfectly crisp and topped with corn, peppers and mushrooms). All the dishes had a great combination of textures and flavors and were innovative without being pretentious.
We were delayed for our reservation because our day hike to Camels Hump took longer than anticipated. Fortunately, we phoned ahead and deeply appreciated that they were able to accommodate us at a later time. High points for service right there! Our server was friendly and helpful. Noise level was high. Relaxed atmosphere.
We ordered 4 dishes for a party of 2 and it was the right amount. I hope to return again on a future trip to Burlington. Highly recommend!!
