My hopes were very high for this place and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype (in my opinion).
I had a shrimp taco special as well as a chicken taco. They got my order wrong and gave me 1 shrimp and 1 sweet potato. That was fine, but the chicken taco they replaced it with had clearly been rushed and the tortilla was soggy. The shrimp taco was delicious though and definitely made up for the chicken taco. What frustrated me was the price of the guacamole. 5.50, which is expensive, but understandable because avocados are expensive, but the chips were also 5$, so 10.50 for some chips and guac! And it was only listed as 5.50 on the menu. I was clearly wrong to assume that the chips were included, maybe would just be good to clarify.
Service was good everyone was very nice, though the workers seemed very stressed. The vibe inside was ok- cute aesthetic but just very chaotic.
Overall, nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing.

More like Taco Gor-No. The ‘salsa’ was a cup of
watery tabasco sauce and most of the experience was cafe-style/self-serve, which would have been fine if I didn’t need to ask the staff to restock said self-serve items. Corn tortillas were stale and rubbery, toppings were a chaotic sprawl of mostly cilantro. We’re all for supporting local eateries but some spots need to tighten up their game and taco gordo fits that bill (which ours was too high for counter service.) If you want authentic and flavorful tacos, try El Cortijo or Casa Grande. For a head scratching dining experience with decent guacamole and a convenient location, taco gordo will suffice.

$5/taco with dry meat and no salsa provided, yikes. Chips were stale even tho I came at dinner hour and paid another $5 for them. Not enough salsa came with the chips. $20 for mid tacos with no salsa and stale chips. I think it’s popular because it’s “cool” inside

Super friendly and fast service. Great vibes. And I’m from Texas so I’m pretty skeptical of Mexican food in the north… but these guys know what they are doing.

If you're looking for a pleasant night out with great service, think again. Come on down to this do it yourself taco joint where you'll need to stand in line to order, go fetch your own pales water, and tell people their in your seat after the hostess puts other customers at your table.
Food is banging though.
Also, the bartenders will give you plenty of salt on your marg just in all the wrong places. Hope you like licking glass.

Great food, good drinks, reasonable prices. The house marg was solid for $10. Well composed and tasty tostadas, burritos and tacos.
Excellent chips, OK salsa. Hot sauces lean on the mild side, but are tasty.

Taco gordo was an excellent choice for the evening. Cheap tacos, beautiful drinks, amazing service by the staff. Great communication between everyone and I couldn’t have asked for a better time at taco gordo. Shoutout to Jackson, he was super helpful and was very fun to chat to. He is a legend. I heavily recommend coming here.

Edit: After some deliberation... Taco Gordo is one of the smartest businesses in Burlington, Vermont.
The food is salty... on purpose... it is to dehydrate you... so you then buy more beverages. The beverages are mainly alcoholic, so you dehydrate yourself even more! Which makes you buy more beverages! This means you're put into a never ending cycle of thirst and eventual hunger making you spend ludicrous amounts of money. Absolutely genius. Taco Gordo deserves a gold star seal for this.
Original Post: Unacceptable. I'd rather be condemned to a life of eating grubs than consume this food again.
Too salty. Cabbage? Who puts cabbage in a burrito? The burritos were as tiny as ants. I purchased a Gordo burrito and a Gordo supreme and the guac. The supreme was 2 dollars more which included crema and an amount of shredded cheese particles that I could count on one hand. The guacamole is so tiny you need only a finger to pick it up.
Unacceptable. I want my thirty dollars back. my money would have served better purpose being used as firewood than using it here.
The only good thing was the food being hot on pick-up. You nailed it there. But failed in every aspect of culinary arts that Gordon Ramsay would lay fire to your establishment.
I understand that's what you get when you go to a taco establishment to purchase a burrito.
