Crab dip special was fantastic, french onion soup was delicious, braised short rib was tasty. Portions were a little small for the price but the taste is worth the value. (We liked the chocolate mousse too!) Would reccomend! Service was friendly and fun!

We celebrated our 30:year wedding anniversary here tonight and it was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable, thanks to our server Patrick, and the gal tending bar.The food was beyond perfect and the portions quite generous. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate.Thank you so much,Greg and Deb Baringer

We stopped by here when we had an awkward 30 minutes before an appointment, and just wanted to sit at a comfy bar for drinks.First of all, worth walking in alone to just view the beautiful and historical architecture. Just a really gorgeous space. We got two seats at the end of the bar and got two drinks. I got an incredible and unique cocktail with tequila and cardamom, while my partner got a draft beer. The bartender was really attentive - he ran out of bitters just as he was making my cocktail, and checked in with me about the wait. Just a little touch of generous hospitality.Everyone there was also very welcoming and appreciative of us stopping by just for our drinks. I'm always self-conscious about taking up space at a high-end restaurant when there's a chance of people waiting to order food, but the whole team made us feel very welcome despite our short stay.

Had a nice (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner with the family here tonight. The food and portion size were quite stunning ?!Started out with the Vinyard Chowder, and it was fabulous. Delicate seafood flavor with loads of seafood in there. Definitely recommend. For main, can't go wrong with big rib eye. The thickness of the steak was beyond my amazement. Worth every penny! For the end, I had a delicate chocolate mouse. It wasn't overly sweet, which is key in this type of dish. All in all, I would be back here when in the area!

A true surprise and a great find. Small, intimate old school vibe with a small bar and limited seating. Very well done old school, NYC vibe with some really great food. The fish chowder was likely the best soup I've had in ages. The duck beast with ligonberry and wild rice was absolutely fantastic. One of those meals you eat slow hoping that it will never end. Attentive service and and just a memorable time. Carve out time for this one. A real gem

We have ordered from The Gryphon for the past five years because the seafood is amongst the best in the area. The seafood grits and the seafood chowder, specifically, are great. Unfortunately, the last two or three times we have ordered from here, the portion sizes have shrunken considerably. The chowder and grit portions are now half of what they used to be (so, too small) but still the same (high) price. For that reason, we will likely not be ordering from here anymore.

Tonight’s dinner was a much different experience from a year or so ago. First time we came here the food was excellent! Tonight, grits were bland, seafood was overcooked and there just didn’t seem to be much to choose from. It was just kinda ok to be honest. Service was great as always.
