It's always the view. A great view is a must with most meals. The food varies and is absolutely appetizing. It is all delicious and you can't go wrong. It is at the very top of waterman building. In case you are unsure, this is located right on UVM's campus. You simply walk into Waterman building off of South Prospect Street and take the stairs to the fifth floor- don't miss out on the great cardio! The restaurant is located right up top and you simply walk to the host table and ask to be seated. On nice days there are seats right on the balcony so make sure to take advantage! On this particular trip I opted for the $10 salad and soup bar and let me tell you- WORTH IT! The salad is very versatile and fresh while the soup is just scrumptious. It's a bar so you can go back and get seconds, or thirds, or whatever your stomach desires- you wont go hungry with this meal. The rest of the menu changes regularly so it is definitely worth listening to the new specials. When it comes down to it, if you haven't been here- Go! GO NOW! Yumm!
There's nothing wrong with Waterman Manor, and it would be utterly unremarkable if not for on a college campus. The only time I ever go here is when the department has a guest and wants a graduate student to go to lunch. It's the only place on the UVM campus where you'll have an actual wait service, which is nice. The food is OK. I've never had a meal here where I felt completely and utterly satisfied, but I don't usually leave feeling like I've eaten "college food". The last time I went here, the salad bar was nearly entirely picked over, and it was 5 minutes to noon. The staff was pretty slow, though they were slammed. On the other hand, the coffee is really pretty decent here.
