Amazing food and friendly staff!! I had the Seitan Reuben and grabbed some food from the hot bar / salad bar. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Such a cozy restaurant with comfort food. Their desserts are incredible, especially the biscuits, pumpkin cookies and crumble!

The cafeteria-style buffet is really good. The food is wholesome and seems pretty healthy; it wasn’t oily and focused on Whole Foods. They have a lot of diversity of options, most of which are vegan, including several types of protein. I ate seitan, tofu (two ways), and two types of beans in one meal! I left full for a reasonable price. Buffets can add up but with so many high-protein options it’s easy to not take too much food and still be sated.

If you go here, make sure you go hungry and try the Z&E's choice. I had the omnivore and it was probably the best lunch (under $30 or perhaps period) I've ever had. Everything was so, so good and if I'm ever back in Burlington I am coming here again without question.

This morning, I stumbled upon Zabby & Elf's Stone Soup while looking for a cozy spot to get some work done. I had originally set out to find a nice coffee shop but ended up discovering something even better. When I first walked in, I wasn’t entirely sure what they offered. As I stood at the counter, trying to figure out what to order, one of the two owners noticed my indecision and kindly stepped in to help. He recommended waiting until 11 a.m. when their buffet line opens, and I’m so glad I took his advice!

The buffet is self-serve and priced at $15 per pound, with an incredible selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Everything is focused on health and sustainability, which really resonated with me. It was clear from the start that this wasn’t your typical buffet. The ingredients were fresh, and the dishes had a home-cooked, wholesome feel to them.

What stood out to me, besides the food, was how involved the owners were in the day-to-day running of the restaurant. You can tell they care deeply about their business and their customers. They made sure to check in with everyone, offering recommendations and genuinely taking the time to chat. It’s rare to see that level of attentiveness, and it made the experience feel personal and inviting.

The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe perfect for sitting down with a laptop or enjoying a quiet meal. After my first few bites, I knew this place was special. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making it hard to believe the dishes were so healthy. I particularly enjoyed a hot ginger tea, which added a nice, comforting touch to the meal.

Afterward, I looked up reviews out of curiosity, and everything I read matched my experience—the high praise is 100% deserved. The staff were all incredibly kind, and it’s clear they take pride in what they do. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I’m thrilled to have found this place purely by chance!

Never got to eat there, we traveled 2 hours to find a hand written sign tape to the door saying they were closed. NO MENTION ON THEIR WEBSITE. Will never go again!!!!!!

Very good, and lots of choices on the buffet. Love that they sell by the pound, so we tried some of just about everything.

we had just arrived in town, and really had no idea what to expect as we were walking around. We stumbled into Zabbys and couldn't have loved this place more. The interior space is like your neighbors cozy kitchen, very inviting, food is right there to see. We had a lovely chicken curry sandwich with a buttermilk biscuit and jam, and cheddar broccoli soup. We were delighted, as the weather was very nice, with outdoors facing seating. We were thrilled with the delicious comfort food and couldn't have asked for more. Just perfect.
