This place was a gem while passing through VT on our road trip. Fast service, good quality food, and affordable prices! We got the Farmer egg sandwich, a cheeseburger, and fries (all pictured). The french fries were reminiscent of Five Guys, with large, overflowing portions and similar appearance.

The best burgers in Vermont. The quality of the ingredients, the flavor and smokiness of the meat, everything I’ve tried is superb. Just don’t forget to bring cash!

I’ve grown up in Fairfax and had to take my friends that were visiting to my fav place, Burger Barn 🤩 They LOVED it (I knew they would). Each of us got a different flavor, we loved choosing from the iconic options like “Ethan Allen” (one of my favs) and nutty for goat. The beef patty itself is thick and they are incredibly generous with all burger toppings. The French fries are also delish. 10/10!!

Insane Ethan Allen burger!!! Up there as one of the best burgers of my life. The cranberry sauce is so creamy, mixed with the crunch of the apple, and fresh beef. Everything about this was so unique and incredible, please get this! Also got the garlic cheeseburger which was fairly good but got nothin on that Ethan Allen. Recommend trying their more out-there burgers than the traditional ones, as this spot is too good and creative.
5 stars!

Burger Barn served up an incredibly delicious burger at a record slow pace!
Burger Barn is CASH ONLY.
We stopped at Burger Barn on our cycling trip down the LVRT after hearing really good things about this spot from the locals. We started our trip at the very west end of the LVRT and figured we would use Burger Barn as our mid point, grab some food, then head back the way we can to finish our ride. We arrived mid afternoon to a busy establishment, placed our order (a bacon cheeseburger and an Ethan Allen Burger) and sat at a table to wait.
We were prepared for a little wait, as we read reviews here and were told this place was pretty popular, but we weren't quite ready for the nearly hour and 10 minutes between ordering and receiving our food. We have waited longer at other establishments for our food, but this is pretty close to the top of the list.
This being said, the burgers were hot, very fresh, and VERY tasty. When compared to all of the glowing reviews, they absolutely deserve the praise they get and find themselves somewhere in the top 10 burgers I've ever had. They are absolutely great burgers.
The quality of the burgers alone would make this review 5 stars, but I just can't bring myself to ignore the 1 hour+ wait. I definitely understand that this is a very popular spot, the ingredients are fresh, the food is made to order, but we had 6 or 7 orders in front of us, not 15 or 20, and the whole experience was over an hour and 45 minutes, which made our ride home a little rushed to beat the sunset. Would love to see the wait time reduced without sacrificing food quality, if that is possible, but until then, I HIGHLY recommend you plan for a very long wait, especially if you are cycling the LVRT and intending on hitting this spot up during your ride. If you can handle the wait, you're in for a treat!

Order ahead. We stood inline for 45 minutes and then waited for the order for another 45 minutes. All the locals didn’t seem to mind.
Don't think of it as an expensive hamburger, think of it as a cheap gourmet meal

45 minutes for an order of fries, onion rings and chicken tenders is ridiculous no matter how busy and it wasn’t busy

Delicious! Worth the wait. This is an outdoor “food truck” with picnic tables (most with umbrellas). They had so many options with cheeses and flavors. I had a local burger with apples and Brie. The window person was very friendly and took our order right away. It was busy considering it was early afternoon. Highly recommend this place.

There is nothing about this place NOT to love. Well maybe that they close down for the winter. There are so many choices from burgers to chicken and seafood. They even have onion rings! My favorite is the nutty goat. It's a burger with goat cheese, caramelized onions and sugared walnuts, oh it's so delicious . You wat outside and enjoy the weather or if it's cooler or rainy eat it in your car. It's such a delicious place to eat.

Ate here right when they opened at 11am on a Thursday. We were the first to order, so we didn’t have to wait long for our food. They started to get busy quickly after we placed our order. Burgers were delicious (we ordered the Hash and Ethan Allen). Fried pickles were also good. ***CASH ONLY as of 10/2/25. This impacted what we ordered because we weren’t carrying a lot of cash.
Picnic table dining was perfect because we were able to have our dogs with us.

Food is always on point. It can be super busy, particularly on weekends and at traditional mealtime, but it's usually not a terribly long wait. Can't go wrong, just remember to bring cash!
