This place opened up a few years ago with a bang but this year hasn't even come close to the previous two seasons. I'm not sure what's going on but the outside of the restaurant and snack bar are in shambles, old faded decorations, empty flower beds, overgrown weeds. I've visited the snack bar twice this summer and both times the food tasted like it was reheated in a bowl of grease. The only thing redeeming about this place right now is it's still the only place in the area that has straight up vanilla/chocolate twist soft serve (and it's really good ice cream).
It is actually a restaurant with a soft ice cream stand adjacent to the building. The chicken wings were delicious and the burgers and fries were good and hot......With a lot of restaurants being closed from Covid, I hope that they are still open the next time we're out that way.
Great food. Waitress (Christine) was great. Very personable and attentive. Prices a little high but portions are big.
The atmosphere and service were great! Unfortunately the food was high price low quality and my french fries tasted like dirty oil.
Excellent service from my server Matt. Management polite and helpful. The host gave options to be seated near music, at the bar, or in a quieter section. The food was fantastic and the chocolate lava cake for desert was so good. Very chocolatey. I visited in winter and it is a bit chilly in the building so wear a jacket.
From the time we entered the restaurant we started smiling. We were a party of 10 that turned into a party of 14! They handled it with ease. With live music and terrific food and drinks it made a birthday celebration safe and fun. Thank you all!! 12/3/21.
Very nice wait staff! Had shrimp ? cocktail, shrimp ? scampi and chocolate cheesecake for dessert. All quite delicious. The live music was lovely.
Very disappointed. Called in an order to go and was charged the restaurant prices not the snack bar prices even though I specified I wanted to order form the snack bar. Paid over $20 more for less food. Sandwiches were missing the mushrooms they were supposed to have and the orders of onion rings were half the size as the snack bar. The "sour cream" for the quesadilla was horseradish, which almost made me vomit. DONT CALL IN AN ORDER!!! When I called to question it I was pretty much told, to bad. Because we ordered a quesadilla(which is on the snack bar menu) everything had to be restaurant price.
Definitely not worth the price. I went with my husband and parents and my rice was mushy, you could tell the vegetables were microwaved and not cooked properly, and the prime rib was dry. They forgot my husband’s lettuce for his burger and overcooked it. Not good at all, we will never go back.
Edit: I changed this to 5 stars. We have been back and we LOVED it. My broiled scallops were perfect and plentiful. PajamaGal had some delicious wings and a salad. There was a live group playing so we sat near the entrance where we could talk. After dinner when the dining crowd had thinned a bit, when the waitstaff discovered one of our foursome was a previous MLB pitcher, signed right out of Fair Haven High School, our table was surrounded with autograph seekers! Even the owner came out of the kitchen to greet us.Its important to note that the meals and service were very good BEFORE our celebrity was known.Go there! Try it for yourself. I don't think you'll be disappointed!PJI really want to like the “Ice House”. I remember when Jack started it. I believe he is in the lineage if the owners, AND we do need a “better than average” restaurant for the locals as well as the vacationers. You’all need to make a better first impression. Vacationers may only give you 1 chance. After my first visit (sampling only 2 dishes), my first impression is, “Get a chef”.We ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the Marsala Chicken. The shrimp, pasta, and veggies were prepared beautifully. The marsala sauce was “thin” and lacked robust flavor. The chicken breast was attached to bones, and was not a uniform paillard, and a tad overcooked. The Scampi was very good, but the sauce was thin and lacking depth.Maybe it was an off night, it’s obvious that staff is needed, but service was o.k. We’ll be back; I want to try the clams.PJ

Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Very overpriced “freezer food”. The French fries are the frozen kind (which were barely warm”, as well as the mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers. The fried haddock sandwich was OK but didn’t seem cooked all of the way. Best part of the meal was the bun the sandwich was served on. Will not be going back.
The place has a smell like a cigarette smoke smell mixed with a wet dog smell they are trying to cover up with something. The food is nothing great and nothing good.
Just had dinner with my hubby at the snack bar. Bacon cheese burgers, fries and mozzarella sticks with a chocolate milkshake for me and a Rutland Red for the hubs. Everything was delicious! Pretty flowerbeds to look at, nice picnic tables. Well done!
Terrible, awful place. We understand the staffing issues, and have great patience, but these folks can mess up a wet dream.Just awful, horrible actually. Better to stay at home...
