I was very surprised to find a legitimate cannoli in Vermont that my Italian mother didn't make!

Finally, real cannolis have made it to Vermont. First visit, a grey day was made sunny by almost two hours of chat with owner Catherine, coffee and a delish almond cannoli. It's a little place with limited hours but you can order ahead (good idea for large orders). Can't wait for my next visit.

My mother & I were going to stop there but unfortunately there was no handicap ramp and we both have mobility issues and can't do stairs. Too bad, we were disappointed.

Sorry to say, I was very disappointed by the quality of the cannoli here. The shells are not even made in house, and the cannolis we had tasted stale and didn't have a good flavor. The only item that was any good was the pine nut cookies we tried. Otherwise, I won't be going back and I'm really dissaponted. May 26, 2018 Update Dear owner, No, it was your shop. I know Chester and regularly go to the Country Girl Diner. Your shop is very cute, it felt like walking into a home kitchen. I was very much looking forward to trying your items since they have been raved about from a few friends and locals. When we came in, the woman working said she was "new" and when we asked if the cannoli shells were made in house she stated they were not made there. We have had cannoli from all over the US and Italy and my husband has made them for holidays (he is a baker and has been cooking Italian for 40+ years). When we tried the cannoli, they definitely tasted stale and we were very disappointed. The filling didn't have texture of consistency we would expect from a traditional cannoli. She pulled them from what I believe was a refrigerator and they had that taste of being unwrapped in a refrigerator and absorbed an off taste. Not to mention the shells were not crisp at all. I also purchased a chocolate covered from the display and while that was better than the regular one, it didn't taste what we expected, especially based on the recommendations we were given. I'm happy to give them another try and update my review, but as a business owner, you should know you don't usually have a second chance to make a first impression.

I like a good cannoli and this cannoli is the best I've ever had. The nice woman who owns the shop makes her own ricotta cheese - who does that!?? They are light and dense - just slightly sweet - and you really taste the cheese. In Vermont, the cheese is where it's at. Stop in and get one. You will not be disappointed.

Greeted with a nice smile and then the cannolis get your attention along with rum balls and assorted cookies. All were delicious.

If you have a sweet tooth like me, it's a MUST stop. It's a great new addition to a little village of Chester. Loved the pistachio cannoli!
